Also went with CP2 again. I was told GT was charging $5 per grip to change, but it was $3. Was thinking of doing them myself. Maybe I'll try with an older club.

You don't necessarily need the liquid from Golfworks. Any mineral solvent will work. WD-40 as well. What you want to look for is odorless as you don't want to stink up the house. I use Naphta and it does the job really well. You'll also need a vise and something to hold the shaft in the vise( rubber gripping clamp) https://www.golfworks.com/rubber-shaft-clamp/p/gw0141/
Anyway if interested see this:

You can also install them with an air compressor but that's another topic. Good luck

WD40 works but you have to find the right mix. Plenty of articles on the net. I wouldn't use it as a first method but if I was out of solvent and had to regrip a club then I would use it.

I]Traditional golf grip solvent’s main ingredient is Naptha. Naptha is a hydrocarbon mixture that is also an ingredient in WD-40 which makes WD-40 a solid alternative golf grip solution.

Golf grip solvent does offer some distinct advantages over WD-40. Grip solvent is specifically designed for regripping clubs. On the other hand, WD-40 is a lubricant. It is formulated to be slick. If excess WD-40 is applied to the grip, it can potentially make the club grip slippery during your round. All excess WD-40 will need to be remove before hitting the course.

I don't own or have the space for a vice/workbench set up but I've been changing my grips for 10 plus years.
It takes a bit more time but it can be done with a bit of practice and I make a bit of a mess but it can be done."I'm a hockey player but I'm here to play golf today" Happy Gilmore
