Question ref shortening my Scotty
I have a questrion for the experts, I recently bought a brand new Scotty Studio Design Newport 2.5 and it is a 35 inch. I find it a bit long can I shorten it an inch without causing any Balance issues ???
Any advice would be good, I just returned from Florida and palyed five rounds with it, basically just choked up on it a bit.
Cheers

Hey Buddy,
There's a few things you can do. Cut it and leave it, the weight will seem a bit lighter. Cut it and put some lead tape on the bottom of the head. Cut it and put some lead powder down the shaft. Cut it and use a counter balance in the shaft, I have one of those that I'll give you to try. My Circa 2 was cut an inch and I play it like it is and I don't find any difference from a 35 inch. If you plan on plying it and keeping it for awhile, just cut the thinga nd play with it a bit. If you find the head feels to light, then do some of the options above.
We'll have to get that road trip to Smugglers glenn in this year.

I had the same issue with my Circa '62 #2, so I ended up selling it instead of cutting it down. I spoke with a guy who does fitting for Titleist out of their fitting centre. The reason he gave me for not cutting the putter down is that it's already balanced and you will throw that balance off. The other bad thing about cutting it down is resale.
That being said, there are plenty of people who have cut them down so I guess it's up to you. If you decide to cut it, I'd add lead tape so you can add or remove weight depending on how it feels to you.
Just my two cents.

I have a Circa 62 cut down to 34" it feels great to me. Bougjt it that way. Strange thing about some Scotty putters that they onlt come in one length.
