hot balls
I heard on the radio this morning that heating up your golf ball before your round will increase it's distance capabilities. There's even a company that is producing heat bags to carry with you which are not unlike the 'hot shots' that you used to put in your ski gloves.
It kinda makes sense as heat softens the ball and increases compression, but wouldn't it knock the ball out of round faster and make it more untrue? just a thought.
Has anyone tried this before?

Dan. Is it really cheating? I've never done it but remember Ben Hogan mentionning doing it in his book(fundamentals)

A quick look at the rules shows no refrence to heating your balls, but it is altering playinmg characteristics, which is discussed with refrence to applying a foreign material. One would expect that the material stays on the ball, which the heat bag would not.
Looks like a grey area to me. Let's ask Gary.
