Newmarket
I am afraid you will not find much in that price range anywhere near Newmarket
Unless you are willing to travel NORTH or EAST at least 45 min to 1 hour !

Magna's not too far, lol. I lived in Newmarket for a little while 10 or 15 years ago. At that time, Cardinal wasn't too expensive. It was pretty busy though, conditioning wasn't great either. At the very least it's close and they always had a million leagues running.

Silver Lakes is a super track not far from Newmarket:

I agree with the earlier post, there's nothing in the GTA for $1000

as others have stated , will be very tough to find anywhere for that amount of $$$.
Cardinal is a very mediocre course ....wide open and not all that much in terms of exciting holes. They get tons of high cappers there and push through a large number of people as well as have alot of tournaments.
getting through in less than 6 hours is dreaming.
sem-private courses with the lowest fees in the Newmarket area are
Pheasant Run
Shawneeke
a short drive up the road is The Highlands formerly Bradford Highlands...decent and it would be reasonable.
If you can drive 1/2 an hour definitely look into Pines of Georgina in the Sutton area
If you go to Barrie , also 1/2 hr up the road you will find a few courses that will be in your price rangeLast edited by Kilroy; 03-03-2007 at 09:16 AM.
