The perfect lob
How many here can actually hit a high lob shot that stops on a dime?

It's my favourite shot, hence the handle.
When applying the Rules, you follow them line by line. You don't read between them.

As long as I don't hack at the ball I can open 'er up, cut across it and pop it up nice and high.

yeah it takes practice but it's worth learning.

I love that shot, too much in fact. I'll go for a lob when a simple bump and run would be much smarter. Definitely a useful shot to have though

Haha... well, it's far from perfect, but I can do it pretty consistently if it's sitting up in the rough.... for tighter lies, bump and run is definitely my shot of choice.

I only try it if the ball is sitting up in the rough. Then I can execute the shot 9 times out of 10 - especially with a high-bounce sand wedge like my old Alien. For some reason it is a shot that I could always do.

I used to spend hours practicing cut shots with my 55 degree wedge but now I have a 68 degree wedge and just swing away. A full shot only goes about 42 yards but the ball never moves much when it lands. The basic distances are 10 yards to the hip, 16 yards to the shoulder, and 24 yards three quarters, where the club points straight up at the top of back swing. People are always borrowing it at the driving range cause it is fun to hit!!!!

I love the lob shot. I use to practice it a lot because it was the only fun thing I could do in my yard. I use to lob it over a tree and see how close I could get to the tree without have on fly back at me! I find if you open your stance, open the blade and kind of play it like a bunker shot, it will fly real high and lands so soft. Once you get it you will be dumb and use it all the time. I 9 iron bumo shot is what I am trying to go to now unless there is a reason to lob it. Putt it, chip it, pitch it, lob it. It should be your last option.

I can hit one very well from the rough but ask me to do it from a tight lie and I'll probably be swearing!!

ditto...great from the rough but terrible from the fairway. Also, it can't be sitting too nicely in the rough or I'll swing right under it.
I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

I dont know why,but i can hit the shot 9/10 times in my back yard with a practice ball, but never on the course!
Once in a while from a fluffy lie.Dirty...Mean...And Mighty Unclean.

I have been using that shot for quite some time and even before 60 degree wedges had come out. It's so much fun to take such a long swing to have the ball go such a short distance. My success rate with this shot is something that others can judge. Try it, you'll like it.

My favourite shot, especially when you miss the green and you know your opponent is saying, "I got him," and then you stiff it. Great fun!!!

But I have had some stop on a dime, however not many at my course as the greens tend to be hard. It's an amazing shot if you can pull it off.My opinions are my own, I do not follow others.
