Buckingham greens are in fantastic shape. The best so far. Fairways are nice with a few damp spots.

Metcalfe 18-hole course is open.
Opening day for Metcalfe 18-hole course. Cart path only for 3, 16, 17 and 18 and there were some wet spots there but still quite playable. A few wet spots on 6 and 15 as well but nothing major. All the greens were in fantastic shape and the fairways on the newer holes (7 to 15) were great as well. Drainage work on #2 today so it was playing as a par-3, but prior notice was given when we booked. I believe they are switching that to #4 tomorrow for the same reason, and also opening the 9 hole course tomorrow.Last edited by MikeRaganold; 04-19-2024 at 08:01 PM.

Cloverdale opened April 21
Very wet fairways, lots of puddles, so I assume this is why they can't be cut which means no run. Lots of plugged balls.
Greens were cut, slow but decent shape.Last edited by MikeRaganold; 04-22-2024 at 01:18 PM. Reason: inserted date

Played Pineview Apr 29 2024.... Course was VERY wet. Greens spotty with different growth patches. IMHO course should not have been open yet due to wetness.

Played Madawaska yesterday the first nine holes mud all over very wet, greens punched from last year and no sand in the holes. Following holes 15,16 and 17 you had to leave the cart and used pull carts to play these 3 holes.

Unfortunately most courses are really wet right now. Buckingham included and no carts out. Best wait for a bit of sunshine to dry everything out

Played Prescott yesterday and the course was in good shape with no major wet areas. A few spots were roped off to keep from getting damaged by carts, but overall very open.
I don't know how they do it, but the greens were their usual "nasty quick" despite some looking a bit shaggy. Love / Hate those greensYou always hit a good shot on 18 to keep you coming back.

Played Anderson Links yesterday---first time in 10 years----should have known better--95.00 cartpath only---rough was high no weed control. In my humble opinion the money spent on the new nine should have been used on the original 18. Oh well live and learn as they say. In the past 2 years I have found that the best courses for your money are the ones out of town.
Does the 2nd hole-n-one come easier ?

So any course ending in Links sounds like are overpriced and not well maintained, not great news

Both Equinelle and Kanata Lakes are in fantastic shape to start the year.
Has anyone gotten out to Falcon in Hudson QC yet this year?

Just wondering if anyone has played Summerheights in Cornwall area. I have never played there and any information such as difficulty, course conditions, layout of the 2 18s, is one better than the other etc would be helpful. Thanks

Cassleview nice shape ; Pakenham decent but this course has so much potential and what seems like minimal work put into it ; Stittsville decent but same old tired course.
Maybe some of the courses that can’t afford to pay a crew to remove downed trees, cut weeds , tend to bunkers should consider offering free golf to people who can lend a hand?

Re. Gatineau Golf Club -- they have made quite a mess of the course now, on the front 9 adding 3 holes that are worthy of an executive golf course, and former nos. 7-9 becoming nos. 10-12, and adding some distance between these new holes. It's too bad because the course had matured into a decent golf course over the last few years, with greens in great shape and the same for most fairways.

A nice and much appreciated update from Prescott arrived via email yesterday informing everyone that they are aerating next week.
Here's the message ... "Our maintenance team will be aerating the greens during the week of May 27th-30th. Play will not be disrupted during aeration, however it will take a few days for the greens to recover to their normal fantastic condition. "
Too bad more courses don't do the same. You always hit a good shot on 18 to keep you coming back.
