I can't get out of the sand !
My sandwedge is a Maltby 56 1.82 UC sole series which serves me well in Florida but I am having problems getting the ball out especially at courses with dense sand like Pineview where I play a lot. Should I retire this club or play it differently as the old tip about laying a dollar bill behind the ball is no longer working, possibly deflation ?

Sounds like it might be a deceleration issue...is your swing speed consistent through the sand to the follow through?

Just watched a video on youtube where the instructor shows getting out of the trap with a four iron. From that clip I can see that I need to get lower and have the grip pointing farther back. I think I can fix this as I love hitting the 56 off the grass so if you see a guy in the bunker trying to get out with a long iron that will be me practising.

Open the club face , and hit a full shot 2" behind then ball into the sand , the ball will pop up easily , you may have to adjust swing speed for different types of sand , other than that, have fun
At the end of the day ... It gets dark

I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

Thanks for all the tips
I think I am getting to the root of my problem. My wedge has a very wide sole specifically designed for soft sand and I could get away with standing a little higher in Florida. Into the backyard to practise for an hour.

Sand wedges have a high bounce angle designed to work in soft sand. Most courses in this area do not have soft sand. I would recommend using a lob wedge instead. Most lob wedges are 58 or 60 degrees and have a low bounce angle.

After a lot of practice played Manderley today. Bunkers have packed sand and I was easily able to get out. Actually going too far past the hole but getting closer. Not the club but the clubber
