amateur golfer
hi there guys i know this probably never happens but i was curious as to what a amateur golfer can and cannot accpet ($$$) money wise.
Of course they cannot accept any winnings , but for example , if Tiger woods became a amateur golfer and say the tournament organisers would want to give him a participation sum ($$$) ,,,,,could he accpet that since it's not winnings from the actually tournament?

i couldn't find much on "appearance money" ,, it talks about the winings going to charity's and stuff like that but nothing about a entrance or appearance money that could be given to an amateur golfer ,,, this is probably not something that has ever happened but i was just curious as to what the rule would be

really ,, so if someone offered me say 10,000$ to show up at a tournament just because i would happened to be someone popular and could help draw more attention to the tournament,,,,if i accept the money , now i'm a pro?? hehheheh
Like those stars that play at the pebble beach pro am ,,, could they offer money to some of those amateurs ( i know they don't need the money but just for arguments sake) stars to help draw more attention ,,, if justin timberlake accepts appearance money that doesn't make him a pro?

Personal Appearance
An amateur golfer of golf skill or reputation must not use that skill or reputation to obtain payment, compensation, personal benefit or any financial gain, directly or indirectly, for a personal appearance.

It doesn't say it has to be a good reputation.
