Impact Screen For Real Golf Balls
I am currently using limited flight balls but am now considering using real golf balls. My current screen will withstand real balls but I am wondering how the grommets will hold up? I use bungie cords in the grommets to connect the screen to the wall. Does anyone have a lot of experience with this type of setup using real balls? I am using the HQ screen from Par2Pro.
Thanks

Are your grommets right on the screen material? Meaning do you have a web binding around the perimeter or are they just punched into the HQ material?
I had grommets on my PR-20 screen, but they were also lined with nylon webbing.
I would think just the grommets will eventually tear. Possibly quite fast depending on how many connection points you have.
There may be some patching material you could adhere to the screen over the grommet (then cut the hole out) to help strengthen the connection. I imagine there is some mesh reinforced fabric thatll adhere to the screen via heat gun/hairdryer.

Thanks goat. The material is sewn on the edges between the edge and the grommet but I think your idea of reinforcement around the grommet makes good sense! The hq material is too expensive to ruin. I'll give it a try.

Psace, I've used a similar product as this: http://www.spadepot.com/docs/tear-aid-instructions.pdf
Didn't find out how it was over time, b/c I blew a hole through the middle of the screen anyways!

Serves you right for hitting the ball so far, GB!

Well I only hit it 10 feet!
But seriously, that's when I learned to stop messing around with Cordura fabrics for cheap screens and went with the PR-20. Golf balls traveling at speed really carry a lot of force.

Got me on that one goat!
Good one.
I think the HQ screen will hold up nicely if I can get the grommets to withstand real balls. Certainly worth a try.
