HAHA!
I'm laughing at the Washington in 5 prediction....No offense intended, but Washington only made it to where they are because the SouthEast Division is a joke. They have the third most goals against of the 8 Eastern Teams. Basically one line playing against arguably the best collection of defensemen in the league and a Vezina contender in Henrik Lundqvist. Braden Holtby is 23 years old and has 7 games of playoff experience in comparison to 55 games. Not to mention, the Rangers only have one player on the entire team under -10 when it comes to +/-...
Anyway...obviously numbers don't tell the entire story..I just have a hard time ignoring them and seeing a team who've only made the playoffs in the past however many years due to the brutal division they are in.
If the Caps win it, it'll take 7 games.

Yep all those # are right BUT most of those # are a cumulative of the brutal first half of the season. The important numbers here are the last 10-15 games. The Caps are 8-1-1 and 3 loss in the past 15 games, that’s including 2 of them against the Sens. Check the +/- in the second half. That being said we can make the stats say anything we want but all and all, excluding game predictions witch are impossible to predict, me think the caps will win in the end. IMO the caps are on a roll and are the team to watch in the east if the Pens are not healthy.
Strive for perfection, but never expect it!

True enough, but the Rangers were 7-2-1 and scored 22 goals over a 4 game period....Like you said though, stats are fine and dandy, but it's tough to predict. I don't see them winning the series 4-1 though. That would be pretty shocking to be honest. Pretty big upset considering..
But just for fun...The Caps played 50% of their games in April against Non-Playoff teams, and to be fair, they played 20 of their 48 games against Non-Playoff teams.
Anyway...of course just for fun because I like the to look at the stats, but the playoffs are obviously a different beast.
The Caps have only won one series in their last 4 appearances.....Their longest run, which is the year they won the President's Trophy...So as you can see, even when they are playing AMAZING in the regular season, it doesn't mean squat in the Playoffs.

Final Standings mean squid. According to my octopus First Round Playoffs always have upsets.
Who will it be?
I will go for the underdogs. Why not for a lark? Nobody here beLEAFS

Why not? Nobody gave Washington a chance last season. That was a brutal series. Was it?
Reimer will stand on his head & face 50 shots/match.

MBerube, You are right.... but the Rangers are also red hot... and I think they have the better goaltender..... Islanders were also awesome at the end of the year, but I don't give them much of a chance.
If you think it's hard to meet new people, try picking up the wrong golf ball.
