Lets Talk Golf Mats (Country Club Elite Mat aka Real Feel)
I have the Net Return (hopefully will get converted to the simulator version soon). I paired it with Country Club Elite golf mats sold by J McGrath and the experience is unbelievable. My mat dimension is 10 X 6 and only 1" high because I didn't want the 5/8 thick foam under layer due to having ceiling height of only 9 ft. The highlights:
1- The mat is firm enough and does not settle down like the cheaper imitations who claim similar face weight density. So rest assured that you will be leveled with the ball.
2- The 1" is thick and dense enough that it would be impossible for the club to completely bottom out.
3- Use your own tees!
4- Provides sufficient feedback for indicating fat shots due to dense fibers.
Bottom line is it makes practicing exponentially more pleasing. Also, when I'm hitting iron shots, I set up right at the middle of the mat which means I can aim directly at the center of the net (Im 5'7 average arm length, shaft to forearm angle of 120 deg., 40 deg. spine angle w/ hands under chin).
The only thing missing now is the GC2.

I have both. The truestrike is my favorite, like hitting off butter. I keep telling all just to buy the gel section and sink it level with surrounding turf.

I am facing the same issue. Either Real Feel or True Strike. My garage is only 10' wide so the PP brings up a good point. With iron shots on the real feel you can just hit off the center of the mat. With the truestrike I may have to move the mat towards the right to move the gel portion closer to the wall so I can swing my driver.
Decisions, decisions!

If you setup the sim off centre and hit from gel mat. Woods hit off rubber tee on gel section.

Or the truestrike has tee section next to gel. So move the gc2 (?) Over a section.

It should be archived but there was a forum member a year or two ago who reported problems using real feel mat and gc2. Apparently, gc2 was reporting lower than expected carry numbers. I will look for the post when I get a chance.
