    Bye Bye Gomez....

Yes, the Habs told Gomez to stay home. He will get paid this year and the Habs will buy out his contract this summer...
If you think it's hard to meet new people, try picking up the wrong golf ball.

Hopefully this new agreement today convinces Gomez to accept the nuyout this week. They Habs will face the cap hit this year, BUT only this year which is a huge issue. Having $7M off the books after this season will help them a lot.

Gomez has no say in the decision at all. It is totally up to the club.

If you read the article you posted, you would see that Redden or Gomez would have the right to ACCEPT the buy out or be loaned to another team...

your right but neither Montreal or NY would ever loan them, cause the point is if they get hurt they have to keep paying them and that is what they're trying to avoid by doing this.

Just to follow up on this (for those who aren't already aware) in the new collective bargaining agreement teams are permitted two "compliance" buyouts during the 2013 and/or 2014 offseasons.

Teams were allowed to use one of those compliance buyouts prior to the start of this season but the player's full salary for the 2012-13 season will count against the team's cap.

So Redden is picked up by St. Louis and GoHomez is in San Jose, and Wade will play in his 1000th game tonight.
