Donald makes history in Dubai
Luke Donald's historic year ended in style Sunday with three straight birdies, 46 bogey-free holes and a sterling six-under 66.

Great for Donald but didn't Tiger do this 2007?

hmmm...
2007 pgatour earnings: $10.9M (1st obviously)

Note that Tiger Woods earned more money in European Tour events in 2007 than any other golfer, but was not a member of the European Tour so is not eligible for the Order of Merit

Wooods has never been a member of the European Tour. His 2007 winnings that were "European Tour" winnings were in the PGA/European Tour co-sanctioned events (The Majors and the WGC events)....7 events in total.
For Donald to be a full time member of both tours with all the playing committments that entails (minimum of 15 events per tour I believe) and then to top the money list is amazing testimony to his consistancy and committment to both tours. He should be applauded its a great feat

I know, I like Donald, I think its great, hence the with my Tiger comment.
But, we are just talking money, and Tiger has done it a few times. Donald's money - and the minimum events he has to play in - also includes WGC, majors, etc...
Anyways, good for Donald - definitely #1 in the World right now and a pretty dominating year overall (4 wins, a boatload of top 10s, etc...)

Its a cool thing for Donald to do for sure. Tiger has done this 7 times (1999-2002 and 2005-2007) but of course has never been a member of the European tour (would have had to play 11-13 events in those years and only played 8-10) so it has never been recognized officially. I would say that the 7 times Tiger accomplished the feat are more impressive than Donald's (from a mathematical standpoint at least) seeing as he played less events.
I do like that Donald played both tours this year and hope to see more of the European stars do this as opposed to strictly playing on the Euro tour so that we can see more of them in regular PGA tour events.Even I've never heard of me

Given the extra grind of the extra travel required to maintain official status on both tours, who is to say that Tiger would have won as much in those years?
This is just like the Tiger-slam nonsense. Tiger has never won both money titles just like he has never won the Grand Slam. Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!

and whose to say he wouldn't have? Not defending things either way but to play fewer tournaments and win more $ than those with a full schedule is a bigger achievement than a few extra trips across the pond on a private jet.
Congrats to Luke on being the first person to officially do it. One of my favourite golfers for sure.I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

I'm not saying he wouldn't have either. The point is that he DID NOT win both money titles because he didn't meet the requirements.
He could have gotten sick or injured playing the required extra golf for all we know. After all, we know how fragile Tiger is now.Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!
