Big Johnny's 2 Man Scramble, Take Two!!!

Seeing as how I can't modify the poll, I'll start a new thread with more options.

I'll check at my course tomorrow as to what dates are available, but the event will be starting at 10am, whatever the date. I'll get the club to incorporate a BBQ snack, like last time, into the price.

I am posting this now as I'd like some input on team formats and date.

1) Pick your own team, I'll add up both player's caps, divide by 2 then take 75% of that to make it a handicapped event
2) I'll randomly draw pairings for teams and use the formula in scenario 2
3) Pick your own teams but I'll set a team minimum cap and handicap from there
4) Sept 11th
5) Sept 17th
6) Sept 18th
7) Sept 24/25 (whichever isn't the Ryder Cup day)

Thoughts?

As usual, there will be a pot based on $10/ player and CTP on all par 3 which will be paid out from a twoonie from each player ($12 additional to green fees).

I was thinking of Oct, but after talking to the course owner, he couldn't tell me which dates in Oct he'd be aerating. I'd hate to book the event and the greens in the midst of/just been aerated. He rents the machinery and will take it when its available, hence the uncertainty of dates.

I will be posting all the details later today, then let the registration begin.

The event is booked for Sep 18 @ Copperdale with a 10am start time. I will be supplied a cost for golf and bbq snack and a price for those that want to cart it.

So you'll be looking at $12 for the tourney fees + course costs (which will probably be between $25-30 for those walking).

As for teams, if we have 20 players I'll divide the 10 lowest caps into one group and then draw their partner from the remaining names, apply my formula and voila, we'll have teams.

So start signing up with your current index. I'll impose a deadline of Sept 14th for sign ups, which will give me enough time to cancel if the participation isn't there. I'd like between 28-32 players.

Alright, I hope this will get people signed up.

Spoke with the owner, here are the details:

Cost is $25 (tax in) for your green fee and BBQ snack.

If you want to ride, its an extra $14.50 (not sure if tax in).

For those that play, the course will give you a voucher for a green fee and cart (based on double occupancy for the cart, but Paul said he's been a lenient on that, LOL!) To be used by the end of this year.

But here is the best part. For those that know the course, the 18th used to be a par 3. If we have at least 24 players Paul will provide a $150 gift card to the player who is closest to the pin on 18. After we are done playing our regulation round, we will head to the old 18th tee and hit in. Closest gets a sweet prize, courtesy of Copperdale!

Big Johnny. My buddy and I compeated in the C Sun Scramble this year and really enjoyed the format and playing together. I have brought my cap down to 18.8. He does not have a cap but usually scores on average in the high 90s. He thinks he has 5 or 6 of the last rounds he played lying around so he could throw those into the system. If ti doesn't mess with your formula too much we would play if we could be a team. LMK
