Clouston Gone!!!
From tsn.ca:
SENATORS FIRE HEAD COACH CLOUSTON; ASSISTANTS CARVEL, LAUER
Cory Clouston's stay as the coach of the Ottawa Senators has officially come to an end.
The Senators fired their bench boss and two assistants on Saturday just hours after losing their last game of the season to Boston.
After a disappointing season that saw the Senators miss the playoffs in the East, while posting a 32-40-10 record, general manager Bryan Murray had seen enough.
Clouston, who was in the final year of his contract, which was set to expire on July 31st, was dismissed by the team along with assistant coaches Greg Carvel and Brad Lauer.
Goaltending coach Rick Wamsley and assistant Luke Richardson have been retained by the team.
The move came one day after Murray was given a vote of confidence by the team with a three-year contract extension.
The 41-year-old Clouston, who was named Ottawa's ninth head coach on Feb. 2, 2009 after being promoted from the Binghamton Senators, posted a career NHL head-coaching record of 95-83-20.
In one playoff series with the Senators against the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2009-10, Clouston had two wins and four losses.
Murray will begin his fifth season as Senators' general manager next year with his fifth head coach. He has now fired Craig Hartsburg, John Paddock, and Clouston, and he himself served behind the bench after Paddock was dismissed in 2007-08.

Good. Now spend some money and get a coach with real experience, a winning record and someone who can really help in the rebuild of this team.

The best coach they ever had got his 600th win on the same day Mr Murray decides to turf yet another hiring mistake. The Sens played so hard the last few weeks, and the management reward their embattled coach by firing him as quickly as possible after his last game. Classless. The trouble with the Sens is there is no character on the team, and it starts from the top.
My paycheck goes to my dogs.

They did play hard the last few weeks. It was awesome. It had nothing to do with the coach though. It had to do with the young guys wanting to prove themselves. And the vetrans feeling like they better step it up as they were being outdone by the young guys. Where was that effort all year from the vetrans? Where was Spezza, Fisher, Kelli, Neil etc...... Again nothing to do with the coach!

They should have retained the coach and fired the GM. I'm floored that they have kept the guy that has basically created a defunct team for all of the coaches he's fired. At any rate, Melnyk needed to save face with his commitment to Murray, and someone has to be the goat so I guess that's Clouston.
I'd be shocked if Clouston found a job anywhere in the NHL anytime soon.

I think it's crazy they signed Murray to 3 years and axed Clouston. They should have kept the coach and fired the GM.
I don't think Melnyk or Murray have any idea what they are doing.Obviously you're not a golfer.

Crawford would be interesting... not sure if the Ottawa situation would be interesting to Crawford

I don't think the Ottawa situation would be interesting to anyone.
Ottawa seems to be where coaches and goalies go to die.Obviously you're not a golfer.

I think it could be a great fit for the right coach. Pay me $400K / year and I'd be happy to step into the job.
Craig Anderson could have signed elsewhere and chose to sign in Ottawa. That should say something. And there are a lot worse places to coach that I can think of.I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.
