golf ball usage
i calculate i will play 50 rounds in 2010.
i will lose 3 balls on average per round (to water/leaves/sun/woods/theft)
150/12 = 12 dozen golf balls needed for this year.
how many golf balls do you go through per year? You only get out of something what you put into it

Too many...
I lose too many to think about.
I only broke 90 for the first time last year and I have been playing golf for over 25 years, with an 89. So, lets just say I lose my fair share.Obviously you're not a golfer.

Normally do not keep that stat... but last year Only remember buying 2 dozen ball but there some left overs from the previous years and early season ususlly used the better foundlings. Maybe in a year use about 3 dozen total (for hcp purposes 73 rnds). I tend to wear them out in most cases. In the fall of 2008 played about 120 holes on a single B330rx ball.

I think my record is having the same ball for 3 rounds(it was pretty beat up by then) but i probably lose a ball per round on average.

I always end up with more balls than I started out with. I'll lose 1 or 2 but find more. I estimate I was up at least 150 balls at the end of the season. One of the few benefits of playing with less than great golfers.

Okay, so season is almost over and since I wont be playing Stonebridge anymore this year it's safe for me to tally up the results.
Those 9 dozen prov1's i started the year off with are long gone. I also lost 3 or 4 dozen pro v1's that i bought at walmart, so I think i lost about 13 dozen balls this year. 13*12=156 lost balls.
the good news is that i played double the amount of rounds I thought I was going to play (90 vs 50), so i'm losing only 1-2 balls per round which is a nice change from last year's 3 lost balls per round.
with winter coming soon, it's time to reload on the prov1's for next year!

How much were the Pro V-1's at Walmart?
Obviously you're not a golfer.

Can't say I've had anyone try to steal my ball before.
To you question - I typically lose at least one ball per round. Highest I've lost is 5 (combination swing change and wind). Lowest is none. Most losses due to water, out of bounds or deep bush. No thefts so far.

My buddy dumped 3 brand new balls out of a sleve by the green to chip and putt with. We then started chatting for a minute. He turned back around and the balls were gone. We looked over at our other buddy who was putting his initials on the "mint" balls he had found "just laying there". Needless to say we remind Mr Ball Hawk whenever new balls are taken out of sleves to at least allow one hit before stealing our balls.
Life dinnae come wit gimmies so yuv got nae chance o' gitt'n any from me.

I will lose 1 or 2 balls, but I have lost as many as 5. I try to buy enough balls for a season while there are sales.

Story of my life man. Was playing at Dunnderosa for kicks last week with a coupla friends and the greenskeepers were out mowing 3 or 4 holes ahead of us. Don't remember the exact hole but the tee box and the green for two holes run basically north south beside each other with a rough in the middle. My buddy tees up a penta and hits it into the rough. As I'm about to tee up we see the greenskeeper mowing the rough towards where Justin had hit his ball. Sure enough we hear a grinding sound like he had run over a stick. Dude mowed Justins ball into swiss cheese.
