Future OttawaGolf members
Some will say my golf career is over (thanks Dad!), other will say it will be on hold for a year or two.
Why? My wife and I are going to be parents for the first time. And in case you didn't notice the fact that the thread title is in plural - that's right, we're expecting twins!!!!
We're obviously extremely excited. Due date is Oct 5th. For the first time ever, I will be looking forward to the end of the golf season.
LBH
P.S.: This also means that I've submitted my "resignation" as organizer of the match play tournaments. Kilroy will be handling this for 2010 and maybe years to come.Last edited by LBH; 03-10-2010 at 11:38 AM.

Congrats. Look on the bright side, with twins you will be back golfing full time sooner than if you had the two kids a couple of years apart.
Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!

Stupid question, but is the mat leave/pat leave doubled in that case?

Nope - single pregnancy = single leave. Stupid if you ask me but that's what the government does.
An Ottawa couple fought with EI and won in front of an arbitration hearing and they were awarded double leave but, obviously, the government appealed the decision and that appeal will not be heard until the fall of this year, something like 1-2 years after the birth of their twin daughters. And, whatever happens with that appeal (win/lose), the decision will most likely be appealed to a higher court. This won't be solved for years.
To this day, the father, who left his job for a full year, still has not received a dime from EI.
We contacted their lawyer and the multiple birth association of Canada and, based on the facts we were presented by both, decided not to pursue this avenue.
The Quebec government awards 5 weeks for the dad at 70-75% salary so I will take that on top of the vacation I will use. My wife will take the full year leave. If we fill I need to be home more than 2 months (5 weeks pat leave + 3 weeks vacation), I will take some unpaid leave from the office.

Congratulations Pierre.
My sister had twin boys. They vistually got no sleep in the first year, but they got it over with in one shot. Make sure your support group is organized (AKA grandparents, uncles and aunts), and get lots of sleep before the kids come.Proud member of the 2009 Ryder Cup winning team

Some people are like Slinkies... they're really good for nothing, ... but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs...
