If the allegations prove to be true, then these two "men" from the NHL acted shamefully by brutishly assaulting this senior citizen. It will be interesting to see what the spin doctors do with this. It's difficult to imagine what would possess anyone to act in this way.

Don't forget: let's also assume guilt before anything is proven. Because we all know, if it shows up in the media, it has to be true.

I agree that there has to be something more to it. That being said, I don't doubt that something happened. It'd be a difficult story for the taxi driver to come up with, right down to the physical appearance of his face. Would lead one to believe that something happened.
At the end of the day, it'll be a he-said, she-said affair. Kane will likely settle out of court, and we'll never really have a true picture of what actually happened.
I can't see this hurting his career too badly. It's no secret that pro athletes like to party a bit in the off season. If he had too much to drink and roughed up a cab driver, I'm sure the average fan will forgive him and his life will go on uninterrupted. After all, he could've gotten behind the wheel and drove home.

Most cabs these days have CCTV This is not likely just "he said..."
Time will tell.
I used to drive a cab in Nepean in the early 80's and it was fun as a young man in that era. I only got stiffed a few times. Never assaulted. I don't think I'd recommend it these days.Life dinnae come wit gimmies so yuv got nae chance o' gitt'n any from me.
