If one injury results in a 3 months slide, there is a lot more wrong with your team than just 'injury trouble'. Especially when that player is Robert Lang. Give me a break. The injury excuse is absurd. Look at Montreal's lineup up front. They simply don't have the size or the depth to compete against a team as deep as Boston. Maybe the Lang injury was the spark that lit the fuse, but the lack of size and scoring depth up front (and the absurd pressure piled on Carey Price as the 8th 'second coming of patrick roy') were the piles of dynamite lining the foundations of the building.
Oh well, at least you're not as bad as Gainey, who wants to blame the Lightning GM for the downfall because he released the names of a few guys who were in trade talks. Ya, Bob, that was your only problem.
And I'm not bitter, I'm just observant. I recognize that the Sens have a lot of work to do and need to fill gaps. I do not blame their futility on some uncontrollable outside source like injuries that absolves them of all responsibility for their lack of production.

What's your point here?? The fans don't get to make personnel decisions, GMs do. John Muckler is single-handedly responsible for Chara being a Bruin.
Are you electrolytes low from all the crying after the Habs pathetic exit from the play-offs?? Your reasoning abilities seem to have left you

well, Joe and his crew didn't get the job done again. A fantastic season and the president's trophy has gone to waste. I actually thought they had it in them this year as I picked Joe and Marleau in my pool though this series was ripe for an upset.

Sounds familiar to us in Ottawa, doesn't it? However, the Sharks are SUPPOSED to have an elite goaltender, so that narrows the "who to blame" crowd.
In the end, it was obviously a bad matchup for the Sharks. The Ducks sure didn't play like an 8 seed.
I thought that Thornton dropping the gloves was pretty idiotic on his part. I mean, you're the best player on the ice. Sitting in the box for 5 minutes isn't the way to go about helping your team. Just BE the best player on the ice.
For Joe, however, it's a lose-lose. He was just venting, I'm sure. And trying to motivate his team. Too little, too late I'm afraid.

Don't mean to question your logic here Mike, but no one is to blame for the Chara thing. It is well known Chara wanted to be THE man. He wanted a team he could be a captain of. And as long as we have Alfredsson, that was not going to happen.
He decided not to re-sign. That is all.

I feel pretty bad for Dan Boyle. If the rest of his team had put in half the effort he had, they would have cruised through to the next round.

Thornton almost retired a year ago, not too many people know this!
Being from Peterborough (the true hockey town of Canada which also means the world I guess ), you get to know a few people who know hockey and the players in the N. A strength and conditioning coach who has helped the leafs, jays and a few other NHL and MLB teams told me at the gym last week that Big Joe almost retired a year ago because his back is so bad. He said his rough and power forward role is not as pre-dominant as before, NOT because he is a *, but the fact that he can not play that style anymore is due to health conditions. I will be the first to say it.
Joe Thornton will NOT be on team Canada come 2010. A great golfer and playmaker like Marc Savard will be there instead. Richards could also fill the role quite nicely for Joe.
My two cents,
Mike

personally I think Savard is a long shot, as is Thornton now. Too much talent in Canada right now at the forward and especially centre.

Okay, not to keep beating a dead horse, but this is funny.

Savard is the third canadien center scorer in the league. Here are the top 10:
Crosby (Sure thing)
Getzlaf
Savard
Thornton
Carter
Richards
Ribiero
Stall
Spezza
White
13-Toews
14-Lecavalier
I think Crosby, Getzlaf, Richards and Lecavalier will make the team. All 4 have lots of international wins under their belts and they are pure CDN type Canadian players. Thornton has not proven anything in post seasons and with his back…I think team Canada will go with a younger player.
There is also Carter, Stall, Spezza and Toews.
Carter has proven himself as a two way player and prolific goal scorer.
Stall Won the cup. Played amazing in the first round this year.
Spezza, I don’t like, too many turnovers but he still is a great passer and made the team last time. I prefer Savard.
Toews needs no introduction. He has IIHF experience and a few gold medals.
I like Savard but I don’t think he will make the team unless Boston wins or makes the final two this season.
Obviously the first half of the season might change some things.Strive for perfection, but never expect it!

I thought of that but there are some player on the RW and LW that will make the team like or should be considered:
RW:
Iginla
St-Louis
Doan (He makes the team every time..)
To be considered: (Setoguchi, Perry)
LW:
Camalleri
Nash
R.Smyth
R. Whitney
That being said all your pics are good and would not like to be the one to select the players that makes this team.Strive for perfection, but never expect it!

So many good centres right now...it's absurd.
I'd say put a question mark beside Richards though. We'll have to see how he recovers from shoulder surgery next year. Hopefully it won't affect him, but you never know with these things

Smyth and Whitney? Really?
Too much depth for either of them to make the squad this time around. Just don't see it happening. Personally I think Canada needs to rid themselves of a checking line. They are so talented they should just fight fire with fire and make the opposition play against four scoring lines.
If you want to argue about having a checking line then here is your checking line:
LW Nash C M. Richards RW Iginla

Wade Redden?
Seems as if hes always on when the backbreaker goal is scored. Couple Sens series he was on the ice for the terrible defensive play that cost us a series and most recently he helps the rangers get eliminated with his poor defensive play on a simple 2 on 2 play. 2 on 2 each D man takes his guy and gives him nothing....Wade backs up and screens Lundy....BAM Fedorov snipes one through Reddens legs and over lundy's shoulder.
At least it wasn't just the Sens he screwed over

That is not a convincing argument, my team is better than your team Ottawa won the P Cup and got blown out, you need all of your players and if your main man cannot fight through it year after year then yes we can point a finger. On the other hand if the other players on his team cannot take advantage of the double team then there is a problem. This Sharks team was built to beat Anaheim, they certainly did not look like it.
On subject though, I think that Alexi Yashin was the worst ever, Joe is miles ahead of him. You just nee dto look at Joe's performance with Team Canada to see that he can perform under pressure. Yashin simply shied away from the rough style of the playoffs and disppeared.Lefty Lucas
