Have yet to play it but I played trillium woods right beside and its alot cheaper and a great track. My friends from b-ville say TW is much nicer then BB. Apperently there are alot of odd holes

Blackbear is a nice course. Due to the cost being higher than any other course in the area (although it has come down considerably) and the private owner having a large cash flow, it is always in great shape. There are some different layouts on some of the holes, but it just makes it more interesting.
As a previous post said Trillium right next door is a great also for less.

Bbr
I heard the the owner wanted to partner up with Trillium Wood years ago, but TW didn't want to, so BBR owner was disappointed and was motivated to build a better course.
Anyways.. excited to play..but I heard that the putting green and shortgame area is $12/hour to play... So they don't have a putting green that you can warm-up on?!?Bite, Bite!

The practice green beside the clubhouse was free.

Played Black Bear Ridge last week. Impressed with the course. Also quite surprised at how quiet it was. We played on Wednesday June 25th. Teed off at 10:30 and we did not see anyone on the course. A twosome caught up to us when we stopped for lunch but that was it.
Nice course though and the group I was with enjoyed it.

I have played TW every year for the last 8 years and BBR each of the last two years. In general I'd say that TW is a great layout that provides very good value and BBR is a more upscale facility with higher prices and better conditioning. A few random thoughts:
- BBR has a very nice practice facility that is free with your green fee or can be paid for separately. Very seperate range, short game area, and putting green.
- I played both two weekends ago and both were in very good shape.
- Due in part to being a newer course and having much less play on it, BBR has significantly better conditioning including near perfect greens.
- BBR has many severe elevation changes which make for some very nice looking holes.
- You can see a couple of holes on BBR from TW and we always wonder at the fact that TW can be packed and you'll see very few people on BBR even on a weekend morning

Back from Black Bear...
What an amazing course.... great service, conditions, layout, everything!!!
It was my first time playing BBR and if people are comparing it to Trillium Wood...
Black Bear blow its out of the water!!!
I don't think I have ever played a course in, pretty much, perfect conditions.
Amazing layout.... amd is better conditioned that Eagle Creek!
Gotta love that if you spray your ball in the forest you will have a good chance of finding it. You might have to get out of jail, but with tree bark covering the forest floor, it kinda reminds you your playing a pga tour course.
The service is amazing... and that is another story.
If you are travelling westbound to Toronto... stop by Belleville, up hwy37 and you won't be dissapointed.Bite, Bite!

I have not played it, but I have heard nothing but good things, like the post above. Akin to the reviews of Smugglers, which I am pleased to say I will be sampling on thursday!
BBR sure looked nice from the glimpses I caught of it from Trilluim Wood. My alternate shot partner seemed to keep trying to play BBR even though were ON the Trillium Wood course.Andrew
