Looking for work
Thought I'd throw this out there. Can't help to have feelers out in a few places. I'm graduating from UVic with a history degree in the next month and heading back to Ottawa for the summer. Just wondering if anyone out there has some work for an analytical mind. I need to make some money, but would rather not go back to the same old student jobs. The catch is, I will be going to Europe in the fall, which limits my longterm availability. Basically, I would be available mid-May through until the end of August. Of course, I know the ideal strategy for someone in my situation is to simply not mention the fact they're leaving the country, but I'd rather not leave another forum member in a bind. If anyone has any leads, or wants more info on my qualifications, please let me know.

Thats good that you are being upfront with the Forum members about your travel plans but I wouldn't mention them in any interviews with NON-forum interviews

A Golf Club is a terrific place for a student to network with the 40 -50 yr olds. If you can get a job inside the Pro shop or Dining Room/Bar it will give you a great opportunity to get to know these people and especially for them to learn something about you. I am often suprised when talking with some of the serving staff that they are doing Graduate Degrees or are in Business/Economics. I tell them do not be shy when chatting with members. Often members have no idea whether you are University student or a high school dropout........
Its all about relationships.........

Good question. The easy answer is that I don't exactly know. I'd love to find something where I actually get the opportunity to do research or write reports, but I'm open to anything. More than anything I want to find a job where I actually get to but my brain to work, rather than working a till or doing manual labour. Even that requirement is flexible. Manual labour pays money, which is useful when traveling.

As I previously mentioned Golf Clubs are a great place to create relationships with people who can assist your career...........Just avoid asking a Judge for help..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwYJxNnABp4

you *might* still qualify for FSWEP (i think 1 semester after grad still counts) ... it's summer employment for students.
I did it for a few years, boring as hell but you get paid.NCGT Ryder Cup Team Green (06,07,08)
