Ebay
Question for all you Ebay purchasers. I just bought fwy's from a seller in the states. Shipping is by USPS. Anything I should be aware of so as not to pay extra duties etc? Thanks for any input.

If the value they declare is over $50 and it is not marked as a gift, you will pay $8 + taxes on the declared value. Most private sellers will mark as a gift if you ask. Under $50 and it should be free.

actually, the last 4 things I have had shipped USPS have not required any payment on my end. Not taxes, no add'l $5-$10 handling fee, no nuthin.
I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

Nafta
The only charges for cross border items should be your Canadian GST (I think that is the right term) There should be NO Customs duties because of NAFTA.

Hey Hacker,
Sometime they charge GST, also provincial sale tax + a handling fee... My last package came in and was declared as $28 and they charge me PST, GST + $5 handling fee.
There is no really any rules, sometime they charge you and sometime it just goes right through... but usually under $35 there is no charges... with USPS.

you will have to pay GST+PST for everything shipped over the boarder that was purchased from a company.... USPS does not usually charge a brokerage fee.. although I have had it happen once but it was a pretty expensive item (over 2k) and i was made aware of the fee ahead of time.
