About time. Regardless of the performance on the ice, this guy made some bad decisions which will hurt the Leafs for seasons to come.

The Score and the Globe and Mail are reporting the Maple Leafs are set to announce Fletcher as their interim general manager.

I'm glad that they finally cut him free.........it was getting painful to watch the public flogging that Jr. was taking on a daily basis.
Now all the leafs need to do is set-up some ice-level cameras and steal the other teams coaching strategies. This is sure to make them winners and in all likelihood result in a perfect season - well at least there are some in the football threads who'd have us believe that success can be attained that easily

fletcher has made soem heavy requirements for hm to come back, and rightfully so.
you never know what that board wil do, but the long term seems lie they woudl wnt to bring in fletcher to helop groom gilmour the way detroit is grooming yzerman

Fletcher is a great step in the right direction IMO. Gilmour would make a great addition to the MLSE in any way.

well i never woudl have gotten rid of fletcher in the first plac,e however now, i think it might be past his time, gilmour, who knows, bu what te leafs ned is simple, 2 things,
one get ride of the interference by the board, ( a la raptors)
and 2, get a real true to life hockey man in the GM chair, ( agai a la raptors with colleagelo)
now is fleth\cher that guy, probably not but yes not a bad sto pgap whiel search i on for right guy, shoudl have someone in place ofr june and then giev them free reign. wonder what hitchcocks GM ability woudl be like

Not Gilmour. Not yet anyway. He should be Assistant GM at most.
Fletcher will likely be used as a "head hunter" for the next GM.
If there was ever a time to aggressively pursue Scotty Bowman, it's now. Pay him what he wants, and let him have 100% control. He has the potential to wield the same sort of power as Colangelo with the Raptors, and tell the board to "screw off".When applying the Rules, you follow them line by line. You don't read between them.

Holy cow, the media is already asking if Fletcher is the right man for the job or has he just been brought in to appease the masses as a PR jesture?

ROFLMAO..... did anyone else see the Fletcher - Peddie news conference. I was just watching Molson, Thats Hockey and they replayed it and if you watch closely, every word that Fletcher is saying into the lmicrophone is also being lip sync'd at the exact same time by Peddie. They said it was on you tube but I can't find it. It is soooooo funny to see it.
No, it wasn't rehearsed and he wasn't told what to say by the board at allProud member of the 2009 OG/TGN Ryder Cup Champions

Alright, I'm preparing myself to get grilled by the Leafs haters....again!
It's funny as hell, don't get me wrong, but thanks to the nuances of internet posts, I can't tell if you noticed Bob, the youtube guy fudged the tape.
If you did notice and made the post under that context, then hahaha
