    Myrtle Beach

Just got back from Myrtle Beach. Played the following courses:
    • Sea Trail - Jones Course
    • Oyster Bay
    • Indigo Creek
    • Tidewater
    • Meadowlands
    • Shaftesbury Glen
All were in very good shape considering overseeding has started. A couple of the courses were CPO due to the oversedding, but the greens all rolled very nicely. With temperatures in the mid-60s and higher, it was shorts all week! My favourites were Oyster Bay and Tidewater followed by Shaftesbury Glen which had the best conditions of all of them. The course was incredibily green and lush. Indigo Creek had too many doglegs left for my liking. I played best on Sea Trail mostly because of the bent greens. I still can't figure out bermuda greens! Meadowlands was played as a 9 hole scramble, so didn't see it all, but it was still a good course.

we're looking at Oyster Bay and Tidewater for our trip in the spring. I've played Sea Trail, Indigo and Meadowlands and agree with your reviews....

Actually Indigo was our only ever rain-out in 9 years and 30+ rounds of golf. We got a rain check and played it the following year.....

If you haven't played Oyster or Tidewater, then you should jump all over them. I will have some pictures posted later that I will put a link to.

We chased that one back into the pond, and then the guy went and picked up the golf ball. It was just off the cart path near a par 3 green!

here's one we saw at Tiger's Eye in May. It's tough to get the scale, but he was about 12 feet long if I had to guess. I kept my distance.

there's your first mistake. by going for 10 years prior to getting married, you have established precedence. It should have been a condition of marraige

Tidewater is a must play, as is Caladonia. Actually, they are both in my top 5 of the 40+ MB courses I've played.

    Cheers all,
Haven't played either Sea Trail course so I can't comment.

River Hills - played it over 8 years ago but remember it being good, nothing spectacular but good.

Tiger's Eye - VERY GOOD, one of the highlights of my trip this spring.

Man O' War - played it as a re-play a few years ago. It's not a "premium" type course but it's decent enough.

    Enjoy your trip!

Tiger's Eye and River's Edge are definitely you're 2 top premium courses in your package. The rest of the courses are good courses, you'll enjoy them.

    Cheers all,

I was at Myrtle 2 weeks ago. The only one on the list I played was River Hills. Good course, great staff. You'll enjoy it. The marshall said there was a Hooters tour event there earlier in the year and the players complained that the greens were too fast. They didn't seem that fast when we played them though.

Have a great trip, and report back when you return!

I was in MB for a week (got back last Sunday)
...never seen so many CANADIANS!!! ($!!!)

    We played:
    1. Legends - Moorland
    2. Barefoot - Dye
    3. Thistle
    4. Man-O-War
    5. Legends - Parkland
    6. Crow Creek

...also on the way down, we stopped & played in Myersville, Maryland at a FANTATIC course called
"Musket Ridge" (you can see it from the Interstate if you take the Buffalo-Pittsburgh-Washington route, which is how we found it in the first place!)

Definitely. Mid-March/April are the prime times/highest rates in MB. November is much less expensive. January is REALLY cheaper

Can't really say, as I was basically covered by a "friend" (we only had to pay cart fees)

March 13 - April 27, 2008 is PEAK Season in Myrtle Beach which means the highest green fees during the year. But with with so many golf courses to choose from, there is a package for every budget.
