Ottawa Golf Forum Members Fun Golf Day

Ok folks, Bugsy just told me it is time to get my ass in gear and set this thing up. We had 60 members say they were interested so that could translate into between 80 to 100 if members bring their spouses along. Now, the majority of the votes said they didn't care if it was a fun day or a tournament, jut do it.... since the majority of those chosing a definitive option was for a 'fun day only' we decided that although we would not make it a competitive tournament, we would make it a fun day with a meal after.

So here is what the day will look like:

It will be a Sturday in June - Tee times starting around noonish - hoping to keep cost for golf and meal at around $75 - there will be a registration thread started and you can signup as a complete foursome or just throw your name in to play with anyone.

Bugsy will start calling some courses this week to see who can give us the best deal. It will obvious that for this price range, it will not be one of the quality courses in the region, especiall since we are trying to get a meal included at that price but stay tuned, Bugsy is a pretty good negotiator.

Now, for this to be successful, we need help. We are look for people to help with the following: Accepting registrations in the forum and making sure the course gets paid in advance, game day on site Meet and Greet Registration, activity organization for game day (ie. putting contests, trick shots etc for a $1), bed and breakfast volunteers for out of towners like Ironmaster, Sharkhark and Golfbum if they decide to come up. and we need lots of people to solicit door prizes to cap off a fun evening.... REMEMBER: This is not an official Ottawa Golf Forum sponsored event, it is by the members for the members so the OG name should not be used for any 'negotiations' or for leverage. (although I will be hitting Dan up for a prize or 2)

Unfortunately, I may be unavailable for this international event. From June 4th to the 22nd I'll be working in Sioux Lookout. Do they have a golf course?

If you are looking for good value for money then I'd recommend the newest OG course Hammond. I have organized several golf tournaments (35-144 golfers) there and always found their prices to be competative. They have great facilities and staff and are very accommodating. May be a good opportunity for the Forum members to visit the newest course on the list. I have a prior commitment (baseball) so until I get my schedule I won't be able to confirm my attendance or what help I can offer.

I will be interested to see the date for this event. As for someone offering me a bed, Thanks, but if I come up I will bring my wife. So we'll grab a room at one of the Cock Roach Inns (Pretty sure Ottawa doesn't have any of those, do they? )
