I can carry my new driver 275 (ask geoff). I didn't hit a solid drive all day and hitt one just a bit out of the sweet spot and carried it pretty far on the first tee box and that is with a 13 degree driver. was much longer with my 10* driver but atleast now I'm not putting them OB off the tee so I think I'll do just fine.

Can someone tell me when to give someone a putt and when not to? I dont' want to give someone a putt they might miss but at the same time don't want them to hit a shorty tricky one and let them get hot either... any rule of thumb on that?

Either way you should start preparing mentally and know that if you can control your sheer physical prowess you can drive a few par 4's and OVER a few par 3's!

You should give me any putt within 5' for the first 9 holes of the match. After that make me make them all.

By then it will be over

So I checked, and Thotho remains at 16.6 Hcp factor

I'll gladly give him the 3 strokes differential; based on today and suject to change depending on hcp on the day of play. I have 3 rounds before wed, and he is playiing too. I'll be checking Wed morning before heading out, so I'm counting on him to enter them by Tues night.

    Thotho
How it works is we play off of the difference, in this case 3 strokes. Usually it is odds on the front and evens on the back, so you would get a stroke on the 2 hardest holes (1 and 2 hcp) on our front nine and only one stroke on the hardest hole on the back. Match play. It's the only way to play head to head.

I'm going to wake up at 5am and meditate for a few hours and then go for a nice walk at a brisk pace to warm up Will try to be at the course a little early to hit a few balls, putts ect. What did you want to change my AV and screen name to if you win? I would like you to change your name to thotholover for 12 hours and post atleast 6 times during those 12 hours

Oh my other question was.. since its a public course, there is really no point giving you anything or picking up my ball since we are going to have to wait at the next tee box right?

Not much waiting at that time of day. Feel free to give as many as you like. It's up to you.

    How about for 30 days:
"I lost to XXX" for the loser.
If I win, I will not change my tag.
If you win, I'll let you pick your own, for 30 days, but you need to pick it in advance and it needs to be very short (not much room) and acceptable, so let us know in this thread.

Neat thread--could not figure out who "Dick" was. If thotho wins maybe his avatar should be a picture of him in "graduation attire"--he sounds like an intelligent lad. If he looses--well maybe "the dunce cap". Any idea how big the gallery will be and I presume we will get "inside the ropes comments" afterwards? LOL

Maybe we could have the loser of the match change their title to newt for a week, with a matching "newt" avatar.

You should give putts inside two feet except when it is to win a hole, then he should putt. It's amazing what pressure does.

I participate in match play events every weekend and my one suggestion is to not lose the match because of your mental mistakes. There is nothing you can do if your opponent wins by playing well, but if you lose because of those of bad decisions you'll never have a chance. Course management is key! And trust me, I lose all my matches to myself.

There will prolly be less a turnout than the OG tournament

Secondly: Zoic's idea of "Newt" i like it but maybe another 4 letter word like "Slug" it's much less appealing lol.

I predict that thotho will be disqualified after running out of golf balls by the 12th hole, but the good news is that all of the lost balls traveled more than 275 yards before becoming lost. ......have a great round and give us the scoop afterwards, I know that you'll both have a great time and don't forget to use the old line when someone's lining up a 2 and a half foot putt....O.K. get it close

Best to get excuses out of the way on the first tee, but this is a bit early.

It will be fun to see all the prowess he's been yammering about in action.

I will cheat and cheat until I can't cheat no more
I have a pretty good working knowlege of the rules. I'll be sure to observe all his actions and see to it that he has every opportunity to play by the book.

The course is even nicely marked from the intersectionals play yesterday. This should be good!

I'm indian... we never quit!!!!! I'll play my little heart out and will try mu hardest right upto the very last stroke. If I can play the way I played at mountain creek I can make a run at you. If I play the way I've played my last three rounds... you will take the frst 9 holes. 20 foot chips are going of violently to the left and hitting off the hossel. I think I may be retarded
