What has your ottawa golf club repair experience been like?
WHAT HAS YOUR OTTAWA GOLF CLUB REPAIR EXPERIENCE BEEN LIKE?
Just curious what peoples Ottawa golf club repair experience has been like.
I am talking Brick and Mortar shops not the guys that are doing a great job of helping out their friends and family. I am curious about the professional shops.
I am coming in from Toronto and I have had my own awakening of what the Big Box does to your equipment here!
Just trying to get the highs and lows of what you guys have experienced and what you think is missing.
Look forward to the conversations.GOLF LOGIC'S GOLF CLUB REPAIR CENTRE

The last place I trusted was Don Irving with Artisan Golf (retired now) . The big box store at Golf Town Train was not bad if you had Marty working on your clubs. But no one did complex work like refinishing wedges etc. I am looking forward to your new business.

I heard a lot of really good things about Don. I heard he did good work. I will bite my tongue on the Big Box as they are just about the sale and the bottom line. Though I do know that Marty is pretty meticulous when he does repairs and it's tough when you are working under a corporate umbrella.
The BB make their money on events like their Gripping Event. That is fair I will just match it! I am sure most would rather have their equipment pampered in a caring shop rather than have their clubs jammed in a plastic bag and put in a pile to have some kid put the grips on crooked!
By early spring I should have a full line of supplies. I have 1000 grips on the way and more coming behind them! I don't seem to have the same supply chain issues as the BB.
I am also looking forward to helping the golfers in the Ottawa area with all their repair and adjustment needs.

I second Don's work, Chieflongtee is a top notch club builder and he thought me a lot as well as the late Les Mcbride.

Hey Luc,
I have heard a lot about Les and heard nothing but praise for his work. Too bad he was taken to the big green in the sky. I'm happy to hear he was a wise man and shared his knowledge with someone.
I have yet to have any conversations with Chieflongtee but look forward to it in the near future.
I hope you're having a great day Luc!GOLF LOGIC'S GOLF CLUB REPAIR CENTRE

Unfortunately a lot of the private clubmakers have retired. Andre is great and would always be my first choice, but I believe he sold a lot of his "specialty equipment' for bending lofts and such and would like to be "semi-retired" as well (but I could be wrong about that).
For me the only retail operation that does a great job of club repair and customization is GolfWorks, on Industrial Avenue near St. Laurent.

Welcome John. Just a few questions for you if you don't mind. Will you consider selling used golf clubs on consignment? Will you offer reshafting and bending clubs? Will you repaint driver heads? Will you keep shafts on hand? Launch monitor and fitting?
Thanks and best of luckLive as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.

Hello Chief,
Glad to get a chance to say hello.
I have been throwing the idea of consignment around and am very open to the idea as it is a win-win situation for all.
The shop will be a full-service service and repair shop. Offering all major and minor repairs. We have a lot of repair equipment and there is not much we won't be able to do once we are fully set up.
We can adjust irons putters and some metal woods depending on style and design.
We will offer wedge and iron refinishing / refurbishing / grinding / stamping. We have had many people ask us for this since the word has gone out about the shop.
As for driver refinishing yes once set up, we can paint and power coat drivers. I also can buff, touch up and clean most drivers up to look pretty snazzy!
As for stock we have over 1000 grips that will be there for my opening and more on the way!
We are considering matching the BB when they have their Gripping Event. The only difference will be they will go on straight and proper not just taken in slammed in a plastic bag and stacked till some kid grips them haphazardly oh and yes, we will have a supply of grips!
Our plan is to carry the complete Golf Pride line by early next year.
As for shafts yes, we will stock shafts and as time goes on, we will stock a larger stock.
We have buffing, grinding, polishing, blasting equipment to do most work that needs to be done.
We also have an MOI Scale, Frequency Analyzer, Standard Swing Weight Scales etc.
We will not be doing fittings in this shop. We do not have the room and I like to focus on club repair adjustment and proper custom work. We will be working with some of the fitters in the area to do their work for them.
The opening of this shop came about as some of the better golfers in the area asked that we consider doing this as it was needed in the area. Through many conversations consults and number crunching it seems like a needed situation that will benefit many.
I am about what is right for the Golfer - Client.
My bottom line is important, but a satisfied customer is my ultimate goal.
This is what Golf Logic's is all about!
I look forward to meeting and many more conversations with you Chief I have heard nice things about you.

I second Chieflongtee for repairs. He is one of our finest and quickest turn around guys to go to. Another top notch guy is Ray at GT Gatineau.

I always relied on Les, Andre and Luc to do what basic jobs I needed to get done to my clubs. There was never a need to go elsewhere.

Weird. Anyone know what’s going on?
I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

Hello all.
I was helping John(GolfLogics) acquire tools and such for the shop.
Last I heard from him was Nov 23rd.
Very odd. I'm actually a tad worried, as he's not from here, and I don't know anyone who knows him.
Although, as I'm writhing tis, I just thought of a place to start the search...
Will keep you posted.

Someone above posted that he was helping him get tools etc. That was on Dec 8th. Golfingturtle is the poster. Weird that he hasn't posted anything since.
Hope the person is fine but it sure looks like someone had time to waste.
Who in their right mind would open shop in downtown with rent going through the roof. Can't compete with golfwork, and golftown.

Greetings Ottawa golfers.
I apologize for my absence...I found nothing in my search for John (Golf Logics guy)...I actually thought he had died. 😳
Well last week he got ahold of me out of the blue...turns out I was close to being right.
Anyway, he's back on his feet, and we've started prepping the shop. Official opening will be April 1. The sign is up on the building, he phone number works again.
We have 1000 grips in the shop, with 2500 more arriving next week.
Come have your clubs serviced by a non-misogynistic team that cares about golfers and their clubs, not upselling you on gear you may not need.
Golf season is just around the corner
See you soon
