When it comes to developers, it isnt over until its over.
I believe they are already appealing City of Ottawa actions to the provincial developer-friendly Local Planning Appeal Tribunal.

From today's article in the Citizen if the court case holds up they can't or won't go to the tribunal.

They have already appealed...

From the Citizen aritcle: "ClubLink is appealing to the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal and a 30-day hearing is scheduled to begin on Jan. 17, 2022. The court decision could stop the dispute over the planning application."

Here's hoping they'll see the writing on the wall...

Clublink has won a provincial court decision today that would allow them to proceed with housing.

Big loss for members living in the area. I don't believe there are any other private clubs or similar quality course in close proximity, so this will impact them greatly.

Clublink has really let some of their properties go. I cannot recall if it was Kanata or not but I don’t believe you are able to hit driver on the range. Which, as a member, would really suck. Maybe Loch March brings in some members or maybe those that are there just divert to Eagle. In any event wishing them all the best.

Kanata has always been irons only at their range. Or at least as long as I can remember.
I've heard that conditions at Eagle Creek have been sliding for the last few years. Maybe if KL closes that situation improves but if I were a Clublink member at either course I'd be pretty unhappy right now.Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!

Pre covid eagle Creek was pounded with outside tournaments, which explained the negative change in conditions following CL purchase, however that cant explain the poor conditions over the past 2 seasons. Especially this past season, where everyone was talking about how great conditions were everywhere.

I played both Kanata and Eagle quite a few times this year. Conditions were great. Greens were fast until the late fall. Predator had the fastest greens of the local Club link choices. Hard to score at Kanata due to the clever design …short but you need to hit and hold some of the smaller greens. Example - try to get the ball close on number 10 with a right pin …. not too many folks can do it.

Off to the Supreme Court...so our fearless leader Jimbo says...
-

Since there are two threads going on this…its over from a legal perspective…the supreme court wont hear the case…City attempting to appear to be doing something…futile…they should be focussing on extracting concessions from Minto now.

As the SCC hears roughly 5% of leave applications submitted, there is still a chance for Jimbo... As I work for the Justice Department, I am aware of the odds of the application being granted, which are slim to none...LOL...Just Jimbo saying he is fighting for you in Kanata and future voters...

A golf course in Kanata, is not of National Importance to the SCC and Canada as a whole. I would hate to see what they would want the city to pay for the lands...maybe the NCC could buy the lands (that would be the Feds)...

The NCC already has way too many assets for which they have insufficient funding to maintain and there is again no national interest in a totally local issue. If people want things like this to not happen in the future, they should be pressuring municipal and provincial governments on zoning, legal constraints on developers and changing rules that are biased in favour of said developers (i.e. Ontario Municipal Board - whatever it is currently called these days).

I see the City of Ottawa has filed an appeal application with the SCC.
