recommendations for beginner instruction for women?

My wife(mid-50s age) is open to trying golf.

As a 17 hcp, I can't really help her on the driving range. She needs some simple technique from a real instructor.

We are new in town. so wondering who people might suggest

    cheers

Hmmm? Kinda right in the middle. I can give you a couple of recommendations depending on which direction you wish to travel. If your wife would like an EXCELLENTLY and well-known female instructor, Danielle Nadon at Loch March can't be beat. Instruction with her or her staff would be at the club and thus very private. She's also in her mid-50s, I think, and has taught in the Ottawa area for 25+ years. In the Kanata area, the Kevin Haime Golf Centre is an excellent choice with many instructors at various costs. Kevin Haime is again a fixture to golf instruction in the Ottawa area. Instruction there would be at the Centre...a lot busier surroundings wrt to people around the instructional area...but an excellent choice. And finally, and my personal favourite, Marc Levac who teaches out of his driving range on Mer Bleue in Orleans. You can find him on this site via the handle 'Pingman'. Informal, easygoing, works with the body and athletic capability you have. Lots of kudos on this site towards he and his method of instruction. So there you go...someplace to at least start...all the best!

I would also highly recommend Graham Gunn (or his son) at White Sands in Orleans. Really helped me turn my year around.

One more: Joe Dubinski and/or Gregg Foley at the 19th Tee on Carling Ave are both excellent

I second either Joe or Gregg. My wife (a beginner) and myself (intermediate) have been working with Joe for the summer and the advancements in our respective games has been astounding.
