The Golf Club - designing Stonebridge. Pictures needed.
If anyone has any pictures of the course, I'd be interested in seeing them. I'm working on designing Stonebridge. I've played it very few times, and have some friends consulting me on the finer points of the course. I have no problems laying out the course yardage wise thanks to bluegolf. But I'm having difficulties finding resources for elevations as well as the lay of the greens. So any help I can get to make it more accurate would be appreciated.
Pictures of my current progress are here:

Thanks in advance.Last edited by PHJ314; 06-22-2015 at 01:00 PM.

Awesome that you're doing this. I've played tons of TGC courses but never one that was just 10 minutes from my house...

I should have some updated photos of holes 2 and 3 tonight.
I went through all the Photo contest submissions and only found a few that are useful to me.
Hopefully someone out there can provide some photos!

Think these can only be viewed on PC, I've encountered issues using mobile.
Short, 30 second flyovers of holes 1 and 2. Hole 3 is in the works, hopefully tomorrow!

Good work. I vividly remember posting horrible scores on BOTH those two holes....I'll be better prepared next time, thanks to you once you're done

I may still have the contour maps from when the course was built. I used them to do the course for links 2003.
I am out of town until next Monday but if you email me DanKilbank@OttawaGolf.com I'll see if I still have them when I get back. I also have a good collection of photos of every hole.Life dinnae come wit gimmies so yuv got nae chance o' gitt'n any from me.

**Links dont seem to work on mobile
Hole 3 Flyover
Hole 4 Flyover
Sadly, it looks as though I'll be forced to remove the houses from all holes. They consume too much of the allotted "planting" resource that is permitted on a course. For now I'm going to focus on laying the holes out and then re-evaluate the whole housing situation.

Beautiful!!! My sister lives in the Stonebridge sub-division. Looking forward to comparing your version to the real thing.

If anyone out there has a picture of the 6th hole view from the Tee, that could be very useful.

It's probably hit or miss depending on the angle you need, but have you tried Google Images? Here's a bunch of shots that came back when I searched on Stonebridge golf 6th hole
https://www.google.ca/webhp?sourceid...lf%22+6th+hole
Hope that helps - can't wait to play this at home...

I've tried that, not much help.
There are multiple Stonebridge courses out there, and it seems ours has the least pics.
Kilroy was kind enough to loan me some of his personal pictures, so I'm using those right now. I just don't have a view from the 6th tee, and I realy can't remember how elevated it is. (I know it's elevated, but how much is the question)
Maybe in due time, I'll put up some pictures of areas where I'm a little unsure in my design. Hopefully I can get help from the people around here who have better knowledge of the course.

Where is the course? I have an aerial photography program for work that allows me to pull elevations off of it. Should be within +/- 5' or so.
Let me know, I'll give you elevations from tee to fairway at 150, 100 yards or whatever.

Kilroy, your link took me to the course.
The Tee in question is here:
https://www.google.ca/maps/place/Sto...m1!1e1!6m1!1e1
I can get elevations from google earth, but I`m having troubles trusting them. Just based off what i know in some situations, and what it is telling me...

Shoot sorry, no luck.
If it were in America, I could've helped. Our license for the software restricts use of topography/aerials outside the US.

My plan now is to fine tune the front 9 a little bit and then publish it as a Beta. Hopefully I can get some plays on it while I' working on the back 9. I expect to publish it in the next couple days. Stay Tuned!!

I published a front 9 version of the course.
There is still a lot of work to be done on it. (ie: filling in empty space so account for lack of housing)
Constructive criticism is MORE THAN WELCOME!
Course is called: STB F9 BETA

Cool - will check it out after work tonight. I haven't installed the PC version yet - will it be available for PS4 users as well, do you know?

Courses are available across all platforms, so yes it will be available on PS4.
Once I finish the back nine, I'll most likely put that out as a Beta too.
Then the plan is to release a "Championship version" which will include some fantasy tees to add length to it on a few holes. Essentially it would be my take on , "If there was a PGA event here...". This version should play better for those not on Simulators, who are consistently bombing it 290-300 off the tee.
I'll also release 2 members versions, based on actual real life tees.
Of course, all that is a long way down the road!

Just played it - outstanding work! It's been years since I've played Stonebridge (despite living in the area) but I felt right at home seeing those holes again. And with the new update for PS4, it's a lot more realistic with swings not always being 100%..a welcome feature, but that meant hitting the water on that island/peninsula Par 3 (just like in real life) and not making it to the top tier on 8th green.
Great work - I'm off to check out your other courses later on with "Barrhaven Black" up next.
One bit of feedback is that I was able to drop on the green after going in the water (can't remember which hole that is). Not sure if that's a bug within the game or if you have to set markers or something to indicate where a legal drop can be made. Helped me recover for par, though!

I'm so glad you enjoyed it, and telling me it felt familiar is even more rewarding.
I still need to figure out how to fill in the empty space, where houses should be.
If you play it again, and notice anything out of sorts, please don't hold back, let me know!!
The layout itself (Front 9 vs Back) will have to mapped out different than real life, because the plot isn't big enough to fully portray the actual course layout. But as long as the individual holes have a familiar feel, that's all I'm interested in.
The game controls the drops, so no ability to do anything about that.
Barrhaven Black is Narrow by design, but greens are receiving, if wind is up that course can be very difficult.
Skipping Stone is just a remake of Shawshank Lakes, with a couple holes re-worked.
Swindler's Bluff is my links course, which I'm very proud of. 4 different versions of the course, with different tee/pin combinations.

I am 9 holes into Barrhaven Black.....wow, I wish Barrhaven was that scenic. Really challenging and narrow course, but gorgeous! Can't wait to finish the round and try the rest...
Update: finished the round and then tried Swindler's Bluff (Thursday). Another keeper that went straight into my Favourites! I must say, you have a real artistry around the greens with contoured greens and bunkers, and manicured fringe/rough.
Note: I had the same issue with a ball going into the water short of the green and I was prompted to drop ahead of that spot and on the green, rather than back at the last bit of land where my ball crossed the water. Drops are a relatively new feature so I guess it's an early bug...Last edited by SnazzyD; 07-22-2015 at 09:55 PM.
