Troubleshooting Issues
This is a general post regarding troubleshooting issues with simulators. I wanted to emphasize how important it is to eliminate EVERY component as the source of the issue, even where it seems to be fine. Last year after a lightning storm, my putting sensor no longer worked. With my device (Golftek...but this advice applies to everyone), a serial cable connects the main sensor pad to the putting sensor, then another serial cable runs from the putting sensor to the computer. My issue was that putts would not register at all, but full shots through the main sensor worked fine. Since the main sensor shots came through fine, I assumed the cables were fine. As of yesterday, I've realized I was wrong. After replacing the serial cable running from the putting sensor to the computer, everything is working fine. After 8 months of frustration over the situation (since Golftek is out of business), i'm both relieved and annoyed at myself for not testing EVERY component of the setup to pin down the problem - it was a simple one in the end. So...be thorough when working through issues you encounter and don't assume anything.
