Thread: Habs vs Sens

ok ill bite, Pittsburgh/Philly had no issue putting the puck in the net last year, so what went wrong? Its a team sport every player as a role, if you think Emelin is a goon then you dont own cable tv and have never watched a game outside of Ottawa.
Losing Neil would be a huge loss for Ottawa, but by your thinking he's just a goon and can be replaced by any scrub in the AHL.

Last time I checked there is more to hockey than putting the puck in the net. If I recall when a team is trying to score a goal, the other team is trying to prevent the puck from entering the net. A hard hitting defensive player is as important if not more important than a regular season goal scoring player that has never proven himself in the post season.

Sens have a better chance with Spezza out in my opinion. I just can't stand that guy.
This will come down to goal tending, and while I am hoping for magic from Price, I believe Ottawa has the edge here if you compare all 4 of the goalies who will see action. I'm hoping for Habs in 7. I'll be pulling for whoever wins this series to go all the way.

The MAIN objective in almost all sports is scoring, that is why players that can score get the big money. like i said before, losing emelin is big for sure, but not like losing spezza. would losing Neil hurt? for sure, but i would rather lose him than spezza, it is easier to patch up the loss. the goon comment was to ruffle your feathers, looks like it worked.

I scratch my head while reading this. I really wonder if most OTT fans really think this way. Spezza has never done anything during the post season. He has always been overshadowed by the best player on the opposing teams. He cannot take physical play and is a major defensive liability. Countless blind back passes at the blue line resulting in odd man rushes. I would take Neil before Spezza in MTL any day as would most GM’s in the league IMO. I agree, Ottawa is better off without Spezza in the lineup.

I think Spezza would hurt the sens. The way they are playing would have to change to support the SUPER DUPER SICK BEST OF ALL TIME SPEZZA WHO LOVES TO DANGLE AND NOT PASS!

the positives outweight the negatives with Spezza.

Sens in 6. Better goaltending and better D with Cowen & Karlssson back. Need to ensure they shut down Pac and PK and they will win as Price doesn't seem to be able to sustain.
They then lose in round 2 to PENS sadly.Lots of yoga pants these days, not enough Yoga!

I wonder if most Hab fans feel this way.
LOL
Spezza is a wimp and will always be a wimp.
Do I wish he would hit someone or anyone sometime.
Yes
Do I wish he would use his size once in a while.
Yes
He's basically half of the Sedin twins.
That being said.....
There is not a single GM in the league that wouldn't take the 4th leading scorer in the NHL last year and put him in the lineup if healthy.
Playoffs or not.
Anyone that thinks a team would pass on Spezza the Sedin's or any other wimpy point per game player is delusional.

I'm not feeling the hate yet

Statistically, I'd take the team that scores more...
Yes Karlsson is back, but so is Diaz. PK, Markov, Diaz, Gorges, Bouillon and Tinordi/Drewskie is a pretty solid group.
Montreal has the benefit of leaving the goons in the press box (not the case if they played Toronto). They (and Pittsburgh) have 8 players that had 10+ goals. Balanced scoring through 3 lines is going to overcome Ottawa. Karlsson can't play 60 minutes a game.
And will he be able to sustain the big minutes that Ottawa is going to depend on him for? Coming back from a major injury, he can't be in "post-season" shape after such a long layoff.
Will Anderson be able to stand on his head for the entire series? Possibly. But unless the Sens start improving on their slightly better than 2 goals per game, they won't advance.

I am reading this smiling thinking nothing better than the NHL playoffs to bring out piss & vinegar.
Should be an entertaining series, Habs & Sens, and in the end only one group of fans from the duo will hold the 'talking' stick.
Being a Wings I have unfortunately lost my bravado the past couple of seasons.
