    Free drop or not?

Hit your tee shot into a red staked area. It lands in a pile of branches that are to be removed. Do you get relief?
Does it change things if part of the pile is outside the hazard?

This is what I found online.
Definition: An "abnormal ground condition" is any of several conditions that, when they exist and your golf ball is affected by them, entitle the player to relief. Abnormal ground conditions include casual water, ground under repair and holes made by burrowing animals (e.g., gopher hole or snake hole).
Holes dug by the greenkeeper are considered ground under repair even if they are not marked as such. A few things that are not considered abnormal ground conditions: dew or frost; a hole dug by an animal that is not a burrowing animal, unless so declared by the local committee; grass clippings.

You cannot cite the abnormal ground conditions rule to take free relief if your ball is in a water hazard or lateral water hazard.

So, I am interpreting it as no free drop in the hazard. Is this right.

I know at the Canadian Amateur there last year those paths were not part of the hazard and you were entitled to free relief. You just had to find your nearest point of relief and drop within one club length of that point and no closer to the hole. You could play the ball off the path and if you do take relief you must take full relief.

I was referring to 2004 before they had fixed it! It was part of the hazard way back when and then a few members mentioned it to Barry and then they made it a no hazard cartpath which it should have been in the first place.

Are they 'real' bridges (ie over open water) or 'solid land' passing over a closed conduit?
