Combined ball and club data DIY?
There is no sim that does ball and club data under $10,000 as far as I can tell. But, under that admittedly high price point can a combo system work?
If you're willing to drop the money on a launch monitor and really want club data can you do it for an extra $1000? Hit the ball off an Optishot mat with a cheap computer running the software. GC2 or LX launch monitor next to the Optishot. The launch monitor runs the sim software on a second (probably more powerful and pricier) computer feeding the projector. The Optishot mat is not perfect but it's not bad. You can see its club data while watching the ball flight from the sim. Any reason this wouldn't work? Only thing I can think of is interference from IR strobe on launch monitor acting against the Optishot sensors.

I can see the strobe from the launch monitors interfering with the Optishot or P3pro, but not with GSA, Protee, or Trugolf. A while back we discussed the possibility of using the LX with the PX2 or PX5. I'm sure Martin can make them work together. I don't have much hope for his club camera add-on.

Has anybody used a setup like this? Does the club data from an Optishot provide good enough feedback to use for game improvement? While it's not really an integrated setup, if the club data is reliable it looks like it could be a fairly inexpensive way to add club data to use with a launch monitor.

I really bet that the club data with the Optishot will not correlate well with the ball data from a launch monitor! That would be my guesse.

The TruGolf Trainer that Cory just posted about, while more expensive might be useful, particularly if it's integrated with the Vector like the Technique models.

I think the Optishot would be influenced by the GC2.
And while I really liked the Optishot I did change my swing so I got more of a picker of the ball than taking a divot.
Might have been other reasons too but it was real hard getting used to hitting more down on the ball.
A divot Mat system could take care of that!

How well do you think the Vector has integrated with the Trugolf sim?
