The Ottawa Senators are locking up star defenceman Erik Karlsson to a long-term deal.
The two sides have agreed to terms on a seven-year contract extension. The deal is worth $45.5 million, with an average value of $6.5 million per season.
"We are extremely pleased to announce that Erik Karlsson's contract has been extended for seven more years," Senators owner Eugene Melnyk said in a press release.Obviously you're not a golfer.

hmmmm, you forgot Norris Candidate and led the league in scoring for a d-man by a landslide.
he actually got less than a lot of teams in similar positions would have paid him. If anything, Murray got him on the cheap seeing as Doughty signed last year for 7M over 7 years. Different players sure, but young, high calibre D-men nontheless. Murray had no choice, that was going to be the going rate if the Sens wanted to sign him. Just be lucky they got him signed before someone threw a big offer sheet at him that the Sens would have to match.I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

if he keeps progressing and improves his overall game then 6.5 will be a nice deal in years 4,5,6,7. There are plenty of talented forwards in the NHL , really good D ( especially ones that can put up 70+ pts ) are very hard to come by. If he plays with Cowan down the road they could be a formidable pairing for many years.

Yes... I am surprise but he was definitely the best defenceman this year... What a nice player...
If you think it's hard to meet new people, try picking up the wrong golf ball.
