Alignment

How do you set up the driver for proper alignment?(see link above)
Personally I always set the club down on a flat surface and grip it as it lays.

I'm actually the opposite. I see closed as square, and my tendency is to miss left with the driver. I used to set up my driver the same way you do, but I've noticed that its lead it to be closed more times than not.

I've really started to work on making sure my clubs are parallel to the back of my left hand. I'll grip the clubs and do one of two things, sometimes both:

1 - Take a backswing, stop and check the leading edge of my club is parallel to my back wrist, most times I'll find it to be closed before I adjust

2 - Grip the club with my left hand. Hold my arm out in front of me fully extended at shoulder height. Check that the club face and the back of my hand are parallel.

I typically do the first one these days when I first grip the club, then if things don't feel square at address I'll quickly use #2 to check.

This has helped me tremendously. If I do hit it left, I'll check again after my swing, and most times the club has somehow gotten back to closed in my grip.
