Eastwood is a must play for me everytime I'm in Ft Myers. It is city owned and operated but has a great layout and reasonable price. Golf Digest ranked Eastwood in its top 100 Public Golf Facilities in the United States.
The sister course, Ft Myers Country club doesn't compare layout wise but is good value and right downtown.
I also played Copperhead in Lehigh in Dec, it is a good track as well with some good deals thru Golfnow. If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.

I played Ft Myers CC last week. Very flat (welcome to FLA). A bit rough around the edges, but the greens are tight and the bunkers are in good condition. $35 to walk, and it's an easy walk. The staff is very friendly.
When applying the Rules, you follow them line by line. You don't read between them.
