2012 Goals
That time of the year again. Set some goals, and then do whatever you need to to accomplish them. Ohhh, so excited!
The main thing for this season is to get competitive.
- Play at least 5 competitive (entry fee) tournaments and contend at least once.
- Win club championship (on paper this time)
- Top 10 in OVGA tournament (I don't know how easy/hard this is, might have to adjust)
- Handicap below 0
- Work remotely during next winter to be able to play golf all year round
- Make a goddamn eagle already!
This will be the best season yet, I can feel it. Snow needs to hurry up and melt.Last edited by DenisO; 02-27-2012 at 12:08 AM.

Agreed on the snow. Enough already!!!
1. Play in OVGA spring qualifier. Not really expecting a whole lot as far as a great score goes. Just want to play in a "real tournament".
2. Handicap down to 6 or better. Currently fluctuating between 9-10.
3. Finish respectably in club championship. 1-10 is great.
4. Hit 60% of greens in reg.
5. Average under 30 putts per round. I rarely 3 putt but I also rarely 1 putt.
I'd love another eagle too but I've had 3 already so I don't need to be greedy.Born to GolfForced to Work

1. Get my handicap down to 7.9 or better. Finished at 10.4 last season.
2. Improve putting by decreasing the number of 3 putts and making ALL 3 footers. Those two things combined cost me an average of 3 shots a round.
3. Qualify for the Intersectional team for my club.
4. Finish top 10 in the club championship.
5. Shoot in the 70's at a 50% or better rate. (Miracles can happen....)

My main goal this year is to focus on my game a bit more. I am more of a social player and enjoy the company of my fellow golfers very much and as such like to have a relaxing time on the course.
I would need to focus more on my shots and less on the conversation when standing over the ball. LOL
I will be very happy if I accomplish that. Other than that, keep enjoying the game with my wife and all my golf friends. Should be good year.

I want to stop worrying about scoring on holes and just play the shot in front of me.
My goal is to not set any goals for my handicap. Last season I went from a 16 to a 20 handicap.
I want to enjoy the game more.
I want to practice my short game more. Inside 50 yards my game is horrendous.
Play more and hurt less. I hurt my back in April 2011 at work and my game suffered and I suffered tremendously.
I have already done 2 months of pilates and core strength work to fix it.
I feel better physically than I have in years, should be a good season.Obviously you're not a golfer.

mine are the usual, not much new here:
1. Play as much as possible
2. Enjoy every round as if it were my last
3. Play with as many OG'ers as possible
4. Get my index into single digits (12 right now)
5. Break 80 a couple of times this year
6. Play with my dad as much as possible
that's about it. Just going to enjoy the season and play as much as i can.I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

Since the positive goal setting doesn't seem to work for me, I'm going the George Costanza "Opposite Decision" route. To wit:
1. I'm going to try and miss as many greens as possible this year.
2. The shank will be my go to shot. It worked for Hunter Mahan, why not me?
3. No aces for me. I'm going to double bogey every par 3 I play. Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!

I just want to keep playing solid golf (when i can). A little more distance off the tee would be nice. Hitting shots in the yard and teaching golf to my 2 boys will be a lot of fun also...

In some ways I had a bad 2011 golf wise. Although I was on 2 year-long winning teams, my play had little to do with the wins. I did win my flight at our club championship, but it was the C flight, and I shouldn’t be there. Then I went to Cedarhill for the Tournament of Champions and had my worst round of the year (pretty sure it was 106), which I believe was published in the newspaper! I lost a ton of distance, and am struggling with chronic low back pain, and I didn’t break 80 once last year. Handicap is up to 13, was at 9 at the beginning of 2011. I did, however, have a very good time golfing, and my Monday night team was a blast. I think I’m too concerned about scores, and I just need to relax and enjoy the time on the course more.
Goals for 2012: Get the cap to single digit. Break 80 in tournament rounds. Make the teams I can realistically make. Keep on enjoying myself out there. A really big one I will definitely do this year is play a round at Renfrew with my 9 year old boy, my 82 year old father, and my father-in-law. That will be a nice memory for all of us.Andrew

I was not able to practice as much or play as much last year. This year my practice net will be up early and I plan on doing more practice and playing more regularly. My best year was the result of lots of practice in my back yard so I hope that I can get back to that type of consistency. If I can achieve that I hope to get to an upper single digit HC and stay there.

I am abidextrous, I once golfed right-handed and now I shoot left-handed just as badly!

I'm thinking it will be a bit harder to keep my hdcp. steady this year with the new hdcp. system starting in March. I still have a few blowup holes during my round that affects my final score. Having said that, It will make me work harder and thats not a bad thing. Will see at the end of the year.

pretty simple for 2012
-miss all fairways because i hit it closer from the rough
-hit more par 3 fairways as thats always an easy par
-miss more greens so i don't have to rely on my putting
-get my handicap nice and high so i can sandbag
should be a solid year"I'm a hockey player but I'm here to play golf today" Happy Gilmore

Wow DenisO, a scratch player (or near) without an eagle, that's weird... Hopefully you get a few this year!
My goals:
-Get to a point where I can work on shot trajectory instead of contact and direction
-Average scores in the 70s
-Improve putting

1. Shoot in the 70's a few times (only once last year)
2. Work the ball a little more
3. Have less blow out holes that hurts my score
4. Be a single digit handicap
5. Play over 30 rounds this summer

Play less, practice more..
Throw and break less clubs..
Beat TGN at the Ryder Cup..
Play every round from the Blues or Blacks and still score well...
Every year for the past 3 seasons I have managed to lower my cap by 4-5 strokes, I just want to keep that trend going, if Florida was an indication, I should be okay!Captain of the Back to Back Ryder Cup Champs 12-13!
