Cedar Glen
Playing there for the Intersectionals and never been there before. Will unlikely have the time for a practice round. I'd appreciate if anyone could provide some info. What should be expected?
Thanks guys!

have not playerd there for a couple of years but here's what I remember.
Front 9 is old school , flat tree lined , actually kind of boring. # 4 is the most challenging hole on the front ( IMO ) & if your a long hitter # 8 is a reachable par 4.
The back 9 is relatively new ( not sure but less than 10 yrs ) more links style and totally in contrast to the front, the greens have more undulation. # 14 ( par 5 ) requires 3 good shots and 16 is really long for a par 4 especially if you're playing into the wind. Piece of advice hit an iron off the tee on #10 , high margin of error on this hole if you have never played it and not sure where to aim / land your tee shot.
Good luck with you round

We always play there in the late fall as it is usually open till the snow stays and all the other courses are closed. It isn't Haute Plaines....lol

Played it today - it was in pretty good shape actually.
As mentioned, the front 9 and back 9 are completely different. Layout is 34-36. Front 9 is tree-lined (mostly pines and cedars - you rarely lose a ball in the trees), very little water, no par 5's, some longish par 4's but some short ones too, SMALL GREENS with some tricky breaks in them. The key to scoring on the front 9 is ball-striking with your irons, but you can get by with a great short game to those small greens. You can keep the driver in the bag on many of the holes (2, 5, 8 and 10). Once you get past the 10th hole, it becomes a grip-it-and-rip-it course. Wide-open with larger greens, but more water hazards in play too.
In a match-play format "shot makers" have the advantage on the front 9 while long hitters have the advantage on the back 9.

actually what big easy meant to ask was how will this course play for a nice draw all day long?

you can play the entire front nine without your driver...just make sure your short game is handy...
back nine, you'll need your driver and your putter better be working too...nothing too tricky though, if you like taking chances, there are some shortcuts if you dare...
tee shot on 3rd, 2nd shot on 14th, tee shot on 18th

Played 4th spot. I trailed my opponents for most of the game until we got to the longest and finishing holes where I had an obvious advantage due to my length off the tee. I found the pin placement to be quite ridiculous. 90% of them were 5-10 feet from the fringe, mostly front of the green. I started my round by playing the probabilities and aiming for the center of each greens until such time as I realized the crazy putts I'd face all day on these ondulated greens. I also had some unbelievable lies, fairway and rough...I thought bermuda grass was tough to control/predict the spin until I played Cedar Glen...

I agree with the pin placements. I played yesterday, early morning, not knowing about the intersectionals. I thought maybe the person deciding the pin placements was in a bad mood yesterday morning. lol. Now it all makes sense.
