    Newfoundland Golf

Planning to visit Newfoundland in June. Any suggestions of courses we should definitely play?

    Cheers, Mike

Which area are you going to be in? Contrary to popular belief...theres alot of ground to cover!

St. John's area...play Clovelly Golf Course. This was a Canadian Tour stop for a few years, I dont know if they still play there though. I havent been back in a while.

The Wilds at Salmonier River is a great course as well approx. 45 minutes outside of St. John's.

Heading west...my home course where I learned to play and as far as I am concerned, one of the best courses I have played. It is a Doug Carrick design which runs along a bay (salt water) and crosses two rivers 8 times, hence the name, Twin Rivers at Terra Nova. I'm biased of course, but I have NEVER heard a bad review.

More towards central Newfoundland, play Gander Golf Club. I used to play the Invitational Tournament there every year. Three day tournament with 4 flights, 6 bar tickets, duffle bag, wind shirt, tees and trinkets for...get this...$120 entry fee!! Hole in one was $10,000! Great course right off the Trans Canada Highway and a sturdy test. http://www.gandergolfclub.ca/

Any other info...just let me know.

Thanks for the suggestions. We are planning to spend a couple of weeks. Plan right now to go over ferry to west coast and then go around to St John's and back on the east coast ferry. That sound doable in 2 weeks? Cheers, Mike

I would vote Twin Rivers and the Wilds if you are in the area, I played them and they were great tracks, bring a camera.

    Enjoy

TerraNova hands down. One of the top 3 courses I've ever played.

2 weeks is no problem for sure. It takes approx. 10-12 hours to drive accross the Island. Corner Brook has a course there which isnt too bad, used to play it once a year. Its approx. 3.5hrs from the Ferry Crossing in Port Aux Basque.
