Scotty Restoration Shipped!
In my incredibly excited stupor, I've decided to post about my Custom Shop restoration. I just got the confirmation that it's been shipped from Cali today, so it should be arriving within the week!
I had an old LH studio design 1, that lost its finish (I can't oil it every day) and headcover. I came into some spending $$ this winter, and on top of a new driver and new irons, I bit the bullet and sent in the scotty for restoration.
I decided to go with the pro platinum finish, due to its low maintenance... Should suit me and my low-maintenance personality just fine. I got the putter fit before I sent it away and I requested it to be bent flat 2 degrees (apparently I've been playing with EVERYTHING too upright my whole golfing-life), and got my name engraved in the back. I also decided to go for the custom shop grip and headcover, which cost me close to $70 US more, but I figured that I might as well make it REALLY custom. I wish I had before and after pics, but as soon as the putter ships, I'll post some pics.
All in all, with shipping to, and from the shop (you're on the hook for both ways) it's cost me roughly $375 CA, which is about the cost of the putter when I first bought it 5 years ago. Pretty expensive, but if you love putting and golf as much I do (which I'm sure is the case with everyone on this board) it's money well spent

I had an SD1 done up a couple years ago, here's a taste of what you have to look forward too.

spackler, are you kidding me? you thought i was excited before?!? the pro platinum finish looks WAY better than i even imagined.
i ordered the turbo blue headcover, and grip and asked for a combo of black, white, and turbo blue paintfill.
i hope i don't become addicted to buying and restoring scotty's... could be a pricey venture!

That looks fantastic! Maybe it's the pictures, but the face milling looks a lot less aggressive than on the one I had. I like that finer milling look a lot better. Really nice putter!

good call Kinger, that's a sweet looking putter! That baby has served you VERY well, it deserved the cosmetic surgery. I also REALLY dig the new cover and grip!

Some people are like Slinkies... they're really good for nothing, ... but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs...

How much would it cost to just get the finish redone? Including shiping and handling?

someone can clarify for me, but I am pretty sure they offer one price that includes everything: refinish of head, paintfill, grip, headcover and shaft. Last time i checked, Scotty doesn't offer just a head re-finish. Hopefully someone will correct me because I would like to just get my head done, leaving the rest original.

No, one price for the resto head to toe.
Most people end up pulling the original shaft, shipping the head only (cheaper) and getting it reshafted. You can always pull the new grip and shaft and sell them on, as well as the headcover. That being said, it usually pays off to upgrade to a premium grip and cover as those fetch more than the regular ones. Depending on the grip/cover combo, you can cover a lot of the cost of the resto.
