    720P vs 1080P in a 32" LCD

So i need to buy a second tv for my other living room and it can be no bigger then 32" .

So i picked this one up today but its only 720P

    http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/prodde...64&catid=23244

its not our main tv but i might move my PS3 in there and will get an HD box from rogers for it but should i have gone for the full blown 1080P or is there no need?

I would like it to last a long time and not worry about upgrading for a while

    Thanks

    Gropper

    No need for 1080p.

For a 32" TV you need to be closer than 4 feet from the screen to benefit from the extra resolution at that size.

I picked up a new 32" 1080p Sammy a couple weeks back. Can't say that I see a spec of difference over my 55" 720p plasma. Maybe I'll see some difference when I hook up the Blu-ray, but I'm not holding my breath.

I got a great deal on the TV anyway, the difference between it and a 720p version was so small it didn't really matter.

on the same topic, if I was looking at a 50" or bigger is it worth getting the 1080p or is 720p sufficient?
I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

no difference at 32" at all. Unless you are into sitting a foot away from your tv

You probably aren't going to find too many 720p sets at 50"+ now, unless you're looking at discontinued items. Even at 42" or 46" there just aren't that many 720p sets being released.

It all depends on how far away you sit.

One thing to remember is that for plasmas it's actually 768p although those are getting harder to find now as most of the newer models are all 1080p.

FWIW I have a 61" 768p plasma and we sit 9-10 feet away.

we'd be probably about 10 feet. We're finishing our basement and we'll need a new one - though likely not til February or so.....
