Standards in shaft length between manufacturers?
Not sure if this is self-evident, and I have just been in the dark about this forever, but after doing a bit of poking around regarding the standard length of shafts for iron sets, I noticed that Callaway, specifically the x-18 irons, are 1/4 longer than Ping G10 stock iron specs - not quite through the entire set, but nearly.
You'd think that to make it easier for players to get fit, there would be an industry standard that they'd follow... or do they intentionally have different stock shaft lengths to mess with us and or differentiate their product from their competitor? What gives exactly? Does it depend on who the lead designer is? Does it depend on company philosophy?www.chapeaunoirgolf.com

The standard is that there is no standard.
Some companies increase the length because on perfect swings the ball goes further. The problem is that for the majority of us perfect swings are low probability. Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!
