    Shaft Tipping

    Hi,

I was thinking as an experiment, I would tip trim a Grafaloy Blue Prolaunch driver shaft I have by about 1/2 to see what that will do.

    Any predictions/thoughts?

You probably won't notice any difference.
Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!

I'd like to lower the ball flight, so I think I need to change the tip flex, correct? Should I go longer than 1/2, or is it a bad idea.

Personally I've never noticed a big difference in ball flight due to tipping. Clubhead loft and angle of attack are much more important.

If you tip it a lot, as in more than 1", then it will probably feel different. How much parallel section is there on the ProLaunch?

It has about 4" of parallel section.

Tipping it 1/2" will stiffen the shaft by approx. 1/2 a flex...ie R to R+....you will never notice the difference and it will not change the ball flight at all. When I was using Grafalloy shafts I liked to use their "R" flex and tip them 1 1/2" for myself....they frequency the same as an "S" but felt a bit nicer to me. IMHO

some shafts are more sensitive to tipping than others..........you can tip an NV 65 1.5 inches and get minimal effect, overtip an SK fiber TT80 by a 1/2 and you are liley gonna find it too much ...

in general you tip a shaft for trajectory control ...but 1/2 on the PL will show nothing IMO.

    you can try it ....

stiffer tipped shaft profile will help....swing and clubhead loft are the primary factors that affect loft
