Sounds like a blast, but...
That's a lot of money to spend on 6 balls. I'm surprised that the sponsors didn't kick in more cash.
Also, for those considering taking part, you might want to consult your rulebook on the Rules of Amateur Status. If you finish in the money, you might have a problem. When applying the Rules, you follow them line by line. You don't read between them.

Double elimination.

This is a non profit event so the only money paid out is the purse that the participants generate by the total of their entry fee.
My sponsors and myself have generously contributed long drive component heads, shafts, hats and discount golf passes that will be drawn at the end of the tournament for those who have participated. So even if you do not finish in the money you have a chance to come away with a very generous gift.
There will also be a set of irons that will be raffled off to the public donated by trophy sports (Integra). All proceeds from this raffle will be going to the Doc and Woody's chez 106 charity. The two of them will be there to provide music and support and will hit the first balls off the tee.
If an amateur wins and wants to keep his status then they can accept the maximum amount of dollars they are aloud to accept without affecting their status and the rest they could donate to charity if they would like.
Lob Wedge...if you know of any orginanization that would like to climb on board and generously contribute money or prizes to the event in order to make it more appealing and drum up public interest, by all means have them contact me and I will more then willing to accept their gift.
My phone number is posted and my web site is below.
If you or anybody out there reading this might be able to help please contact me.
Thanking you in advance.

Amateur Status
Dan or Gary,
These guy's who are entering this event are all putting in their own money. So in a sense this would be like a bet or cleaner to see who hits the longest ball. So would the payout effect their amatuer status if the money is not really a donated prize??
Thx Stever

Steve,
I think it has to do with the guy putting up an entry fee and then getting a pay out for where he finishes. I don't think it matters if the payout money is donated or comes from the entry fees.

Amateur Status
Alice,
Nice to here from you. Hope your hitting those "old guys" straight and true. (especially the 7 iron!!) If this is the case and the winner would like to keep his amatuer status, then I would give the individual a gift certificate to use for purchase of golf related items from my store with the value that is acceptable.
Drop by on Saturday the 18th if you can!..P.S.. I have a white Knight and yellow shaft with your name on it!!
Thx Stever

Registration for SBG long drive event.
Just a reminder.
If there are spots still available to be filled on the day of the event. All participants MUST register at 9:00am before the event begins.
This is an open event to anyone but if enough seniors (age 45 and over) register there will be a seperate contest and prize money offered playing against the same age group of competitors.
Thanks,
Stever

Thanks to all for making the event a success !!
Dan,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all the help you have done to help promote the Straight Ball Golf Long Drive Event. It was a great success. We had a great turnout with both competitors and spectators enjoying the day, from Woody (CHEZ 106's Doc & Woody) starting the event with an exploding golf ball to seeing Carson Way win the event on the last hit of the day 336yards in a cold brisk wind!!!
The sponsors were very impressed with your web site and how fast the event came together.
We raised $215.00 for Doc and Woody's CHEO fund.
It nice to see that you are truely committed to this game of golf and its related venues as well as helping to support our community charities.
Once again thanks for your support and wishing you continued success!
