I have a really nice set of Wilson Staff FG 17 blades that i started hitting in the fall...I use them from PW-8 and Diablo Forged for the 5-7 iron....i voted combo and not blades...

    Shovels. Big honkin' shovels.

I'd get rid of them for something smaller & super-sexy, but they're just too damn easy to hit. Long & straight.

& my handicap has started to crumble. I'm into the teens now & if i ever bothered to practice my putting alignment i might actually get good.

Adams A4 Idea Tech forged 5 - PW. I don't like or use the hybrids that came with them, though. Great feel, but I hate the lofts of this set, and am toying with replacing them.

KZG Evolutions, I call them, blades but KZG seem to call them a seamless blended combo set.
Here is the write up from the KZG site:
The Forged Evolution Irons are designed for the low-to-mid handicap player and have been our most popular model for years. Each head has its own unique design because a player’s needs vary from club-to-club. The long irons are perimeter weighted with emphasis on game-improvement; the mid irons are cavity-muscleback hybrids and have increased playability features; the short irons are full musclebacks designed for increased control. It is the perfect progressive set with each iron 10% different from each adjoining iron.

Adams are goin for me. Scored a sweet deal on a set of Mizuno MP53, which seem to be a player's cavity set with mb 8 - PW. These are the best combo of feel, forgiveness, performance, and looks I've tried.

I play the 2009 X-forged irons...I think they are considered cavity back (which is what I voted for).

I seriously question the results of this poll. 25 percent of respondents playing blades? Based on my experience, fewer then 5 percent of golfers have a full set of blade irons. In fact, that might even be a high estimate.

Of all golfers, how many frequent golf forums? Probably the most die hards which usually include golfers using blades, can they fame them to the best of their ability, probably not entirely but they look shiny and feel awesome when flushed! Lots of members on here own and use more than one set, one of which can be blades? Why are you even concerning yourself with a poll?

Your point is entirely valid. I may be completely off base with my opinion. I personally feel that it's high, but I certainly respect everyone's opinion. I use the website as an information source and enjoy reading the contributions of others. The poll is of interest to me as I game Mizuno MP68 forged blades. I am anything but a great player, but I consider myself a sportsman and love the idea of holding a traditional club in my hand. For what it's worth, they are super easy to hit and are especially accurate, even if the operator is lacking in ability. I think much of the confusion lies in the interpretation of a blade vs a muscle back club. I trust my comments have not left a negative impression. Kindly, John

This poll was started in 2007, almost 7 years ago now..

Times have changed...Look at how many PGA Tour players have gone towards cavity backs from blade style irons.

Definitely! It's nice to be able to manipulate ball flight, and still have the forgiveness of a cavity back. It's a welcome change in my opinion.

I use Ping i20's (4 through PW) and before this had Ping i5's (6 through PW) with G5's as the 4 and 5 iron.

I just picked up a set of Nike VR Pro Blades. 3-PW and just changed up the paintfill on them. Haven't used them yet, other than to do a length/lie fitting.
