OK, from the first time I saw pics of this thing I though it wasn't too bad. But that pic from the back sealed it for me, uuuuuuuuuugly.

Can't say it suits my eye either but i'll definitely give it a poke at the range to see what it's like. Apparently TaylorMade has some new drivers coming out in December as well that are very hush hush.

What's the deal with square headed drivers? Is there performance theory behind it or just marketing?

If this is the "Future" of golf I for one do not like it at all. Between this driver and that Sumo thing I honestly feel both are BUTT UGLY.
If you do not like these new square driver heads it might be wise to buy an extra driver that you do like and just store it away!
Thank God I have my old laminated driver I can fall back on
With that I am off to the local golf store to see if there are any WHISTLERS in the SHED. If so I am buying them, pimping them up with a trick paint job and putting them on eBay!

I hit it last week. It loks like hell but it felt pretty good. I don't think I'd be able to get over the look of it to put it in the bag.

Now with comments like this from a member of the Under 30 generation I wonder who Callaway is going to market this driver to? New golfers will not purchase it due to the price. Older golfers like myself do not like the looks. Even young goflers do not like the looks So who's buying it?

Now the only way that thing would be in my bag......... Every drive would have to be dead centre and long! I might get past the looks then! Like the ugly girl, she sure can cook!

USGA defines the limits front to back, top to bottom, and side to side distances, volume etc. Square is the way to try to max out the USGA club head limits.
    Back at it.

Yes, I'd like to know as well. There are none of these at Golf Town.

The rep had it with him when he came in so he let people hit it that were there. I was in returning my 585H that morning so I guess I got lucky...or unlucky depending on how you look at it.

Of course there are none at Golf Town. The club hasn't even been released for retail as far as I know.

I think it might appeal to newer golfers..I may be under 30, but barely, and I've been playing for over 20 years so I'd be more inclined to buy more traditional looking clubs before going with these futuristic looking things.

I used to golf with a guy at Rivermead who would buy almost every new driver that came out. The guy literally had 10 drivers in his locker at a time. I'm sure he's not the only one of his kind around, so Callaway could probably rely on those shoppers.

Unless it does something seriously different or outstanding compared to what people play now, I can't see people looking past the ugly look of it to add it to their bag.

I couldn't tell you what it plays like except for how it feels and what you see from hitting it into a net and simulator screen.

If it added 30 straight yards, I would buy it.
