    Women's Open?

    So what's your predictions?
Big wiesey with 1st win speech?
Big wiesey wit "I lost but am happy with myself" speech?
    Karrie Webb reborn?
    Annika back on track?
First timer pushing at the door? i.e. Gulbis etc.

I'm gonna pick possibly the strongest player right now, Ochoa.

I tend to agree with Sak..... Ochoa is looking really good but I also believe a couple if not 3 of the Koreans will be right there in the hunt! Something is definitely wrong with Annika, she just isn't playing her game lately. As for wie, she will probably be in the top 10 but we will definitely hear her 'I am very happy with my play' speech yet again. Once she wins though, the tour better watch out because once she finally gets that Monkey off her back, she will be a force to recon with!

Wie for the win. Why? Cause the place is wet and no one else is even close to her in driving distance. Yes, I know, she hasn't won before. But wouldn't the US Open be a good one to start with?

By the way, does anyone know why it isn't being covered on the tube? At least I can't find it.

I had not realized that there were two. I am number 19. I suspect that the second account reflects an ill-fated attempt by a friend to enter some USA scores for me early this season. If that is the case, then that account should be closed.

Really pissed me off last night stayed up to 12:05 for two hrs of womens open, just saw some pga coverage. Thought maybe it would end then women start. Realized at 1am not happening. Did they run a msg at bottom to say of rain delay? not that I saw.
Espn got the rights and unfortunately that means no primetime or afternoon coverage unless u get them. I have a full pkg from expressvu and even espnc (whatever that is?) doesn't have it.
Good news is sat is on tv, I think from 3pm, and rumors are the double 36 hole sunday, might have bonus early coverage, but that is not confirmed.

Kinda funny I really thought after her mens US open tries wiesey might kill in womens, even though I am not fond of her, but can't get good coverage.

Imagine that, Annika has snuck right into a tie for the lead at the Open. I however like
SeRi Pak chances of winning. I have always liked watching SeRi golf, plus I think she is a Korean Babe
Should be interesting with 36 holes on Sunday, survival of the fittest. That pretty much eliminates Pat Hurst and Brandie Burton.
Amazing, 5 Korean players in the Top 10 of this event. Pretty much tells me the American ladies really have to pick up their games.

Yes Se Ri is cute. I think the LPGA is going to have a bit of an identity issue in the next few years as it is very clear the Korean/orient contingent of experienced and new players are dominant, and I believe will continue.

Problem is that they are largely unknown, and attempts to get to know them through interviews often doesn't help. I watched several of the past interviews of different winners and all I heard is "I happy, play good, happy".

With the drop off in promising people from last yr like creamer pressel etc I need to find some way to get to know (tell apart) the current korean crop. Not a slam on them as they are extremely talented, but I need to know their personality in order to root for them.

I woke up at 3:30 a.m. this morning, turned on TSN and, surprise of surprises, I found the they were showing 3 hours of US Women's Open. To show you how much they value the event - the play was great to watch, their coverage ran from 3 a.m. to 6 a.m. Someone has to explain that to me.

Yeah, I looked it up on my program guide on expressvu and couldn't believe I would have to stay up that late.
It's funny how often I can watch a womens event live i.e. on golf channel, then repeated in evening, or a champions tour event, but get an actual good womens event and I must stay up all nite.
    Makes zero sense?

PS learned on another site that cute Kristina from last big break is in 20th position.

Unfortunately, TSN and the other stellar lights of sports broadcasting did deem it necessary to air this morning's playoff between Annika and Pat. Unless one had ESPN, there was no way you were going to see these two fine players battle it out. Shame on these networks.

The Golf Channel is carrying the playoff round tonight at 8PM. Not sure if they will show the entire round or highlights but it will be on the air at least.
TSN would not be able to broadcast the coverage from today as they would have a contract to carry the tennis. Sportsnet is useless when it comes to events like this and of course NBC would not carry it, and cut into regular Monday programming.

OK I go back to TGC and now I am not sure what they are showing tonight at 8PM. They list it as Women's US Open Final Round replay and show Annika holding the trophy.
Now I assumed they would be showing the playoff but maybe they are going to show Sunday's final round. Confused? So am I, all we can do is tune in and see what is being aired.

It was on this morning on TSN HD. Booooring.

18 hole playoff's are silly. Not even to discuss how anticlimactic a Monday game with no real coverage or audience is, but if one player gets a lead, like today, it's just sad to watch.

If sudden death does not suit the USGA, they need to come up with something else. This does not work. It never really did.

My mistake, it is on TGC tomorrow night and I still can not verify if it is the playoff round. Either way, not much excitement now that we know who won!
As for the playoff format, I am not too sure which I prefer. I would not want to settle a National Open with sudden death.
I think I prefer the way the R&A does it for The Open Championship, a 4 hole playoff, low score wins. That way it is settled on Sunday, the people who paid to watch a champion hoist the trophy get to see that happen.
However, that is the way the USGA does it and it is their show!

I like the British Open - Slow Death Playoff format. I think the PGA does the same sort of thing but maybe 3 holes instead of 4. Sudden death (like the Masters) brings the potential for a lucky bounce or one lose swing winning (or losing) a championship. The 18 hole playoff (US Open) is probably the most fair, but it happens a day after everyone goes home and it is usually played in front of almost no gallery and limited TV audiences.

For all the confusion on what the golf channel is airing, I just saw the commercial and it clearly says its the final round from sunday (2 of 2 from sun).

I agree on the anticlamatic monday. Trying to fill time with no other players to flip to, while they walk up to shots for 18 holes gets boring quick.
Although annika who I root for won, it was not enjoyable to watch.
I don't think a sudden death is fair, but maybe best of 3,4 or 5.

Plus it isn't fair for people who purchased final round tickets to not see a winner and also not fair for viewers who watch for hours to not see a winner.

The last half hour of the Women's US Open replay on the Golf Channel was the first few and last couple of holes of the monday playoff. Had a bit of commentary from both players.
