Saw it at the show at the end of the day and got the brochure, but will find out more tomorrow - wondering what is directly measured and what is calculated. Will try to post a video tomorrow night :)

I wonder if they would be able to measure spin axis. If they are using a similar tech to flightscope/trackman, this would have to be estimated from club path/horizontal ball azimuth, but then they'd have to be able to measure at least the club path too......

Let's get this straight. If it just measures Ball Speed, Club head speed, Launch Angle with club input (for spin) this thing will be spectacular at $450!

Really love the market right now. Lot's of innovation for less money. Competition is great!
Launch angle and spin. If you could get relative direction out of this, then you have all you need to feed sim software.
Total spin does not give you curvature of the ball. Spin axis curves the ball. Spin axis has to be either measured, or calculated (guessed) by initial ball path/club path differential.
If it doesn't do either one of these, shot shapes will be as accurate as the Zelocity.
I'm not trying to bash it, cuz it's a great price. But the more people are informed the less likely they'll be disappointed or question the accuracy.
The ES 12 was iCrap only. Hopefully the ES 14 supports other OS's.

Contradicting information out there.
Available tech (in price point) would suggest that it can read CHS, BS, and LA. But spin measurement is most definitely not true.
Spin estimation is definitely possible. Lookup tables for average spin based on launch angle measured is certainly believable.
This is the most interesting device to have heard about in a lonnnng time! Especially at such a cheap price. (ie not thousands). That's most of it's pull right there.
I'm sure they get it's spin rate from estimation tables too, but never know.....

They said at the show they will have it side by side with the GC2 to show you how the numbers are almost the same!!!!

ES14 measures ball speed and club head speed only. Everything else is calculated.

I was at the booth today and double-confirmed that it directly measures ball speed and ball direction only - the spin and launch is a calculation - you have to specify the target direction (Left / Center / Right) and club.
The videos are uploading now and should be ready for viewing in the morning.
PS: I hit on it too and tried to compare it with the GC2 but the battery had died on the GC2 and they brought the wrong AC Adaptor so I asked them to send me an ES14 so we can do some independent testing.

Can I ask what's the point of the "Launch Angle" statistic?? How would that number ever change if it's just hard coded in and the unit has no clue to it's angle, just ball and club speed? Would it always stay the same? lol

According to their team, it has sophisticated algorithms that can in fact figure launch angle and spin rate to such a high degree of accuracy, that they compared it directly to the gc2 at the PGA Merchandise Show!
So supposedly if you hit it 5 degrees higher it would in fact show that difference. Their engineers figured out how the numbers linked together?
Ok I have to see if this really works now... They are shipping in February and a lot of people preordered it already.
Does anyone think it could actually work well for those readings? Your thoughts?

For most it's unthinkable that any company would be making such a major incorrect statement about the working of their product. Not believing a company or person would\could act like that is called the big lie theory.

They said it uses doppler radar technology and measures ball speed and clubhead speed. All the rest is calculated. No attempt to dress up their calculations with magic pixy dust or other obfuscating substances.
So I wish them well, their product has a market niche, just not as a full launch monitor to be used for simulation.
