I am.....
Mostly on the green though. I've missed 4 eagle putts in the last two rounds I've played. I think I'm having issues reading greens because my speed seems to be right on, but my line is always lip out or just beside the hole.
I don't think I've shot better than 81 in the six or seven rounds I've got in.
Anyone else in the same boat?:confused

Index has climbed to 8.1. I can break down my bad play into three root causes:
1. I've had a nagging injury to my right hand which is only now starting to get better.
2. Made a change to my driver configuration and went from hitting it great to hitting it like ass. Stupid me.
3. LOFT.
I know having problems with the game can be frustrating, but just be grateful you are able to play. I have played for over 40 yrs and am by far playing the best golf I have ever played. My 'Cap would be around 3-5. I have in the last year had 5 times the number of under par rounds that I had had in the previous 30 yrs. But alas, tendinitis has decided it wants to reside in my arm(s). Yes you read right BOTH elbows and BOTH the upper and lower tendons are involved. It is impossible to swing a club and barely possible to just practice putting for an hour. So thank God that you can play.
And in my experience putts that lip out today will fall tomorrow and when they start your confidence will rise exponentially. For instance last year I was in the same spot. Once they started falling my scores did also. I will never forget one in particular. Had time for just a quick nine. Quick it was 7/7 fairways, 9/9 greens and 6/9 putts only one of which was a "kick-in". Nice little 30. So keep plugging they will start falling and then you'll not have a 'Cap left!!
I sucked it up large today.
An 8 cap? I took that in 1 hole today at Falcon Ridge...
Breaks down as follows: Tee shot in the water, 3rd in the water, 5th in the water, 7th in the water, 9 short, 10 on, 2 putts for 12.
Top that!
We'll have to play this month Mr. Vincent. I'm in Ottawa this coming Tuesday until the middle of August. Maybe we can hack it up a couple of times. HA! HA!

I am struggling with the driver off the tee though I drove the ball pretty good at Stonebridge last night.
That's the biggest part. Putting is pretty good. Short game is excellent. Irons are pretty good for the most part.
However its a very difficult game if you can't get off the tee.
I stink.
I am grinding well... that's about it.
Perhaps it is due to the wet summer, but I've chunked enough shots I feel I should be tipping the groundskeepers :biting:
Short game is good with the wedges; iron play, driver and woods alternate on a shot-by-shot basis between brilliant and terrible. Putting is the only thing which is consistent... consistently horrifying. You may have seen my TV commercial... new putter, new putter, new putter... not having to putt priceless. :wallbash
Still having fun though :thumbsup. Just the normal mid summer struggles. It's like this every year. Usually this is about the time I would change all my clubs :shhh:
My handicap factor is up from 12.5 to 13.9. It doesn't dound like much but it really is starting to bug me since it seems to be settling in at the new number.

My cap has dropped 2 points this past month... but now the tee shots are unpredictable.. I think I need a new driver:-)

well, I played 36 yesterday and managed not to suck. won 3 of my 4 matches, 2 with the help of my partner and actually struck the ball fairly decent on all accounts. Put my old R7 back in the bag and it was like magic. I haven't driven the ball that well all year - I guess that club is staying in the bag for awhile. Made a number of decent putts as well. Short game was so-so and the short irons as well but all in all decent golf.
I am all over the place this year. Mostly sucking, played Renfrew yesterday and only made 4 pars but an eagle and three birds helped the 4 doubles and 6 bogeys. total to a Great 80. LOL.
I'd been playing like crap up until yesterday. Played my first round in four weeks, playing alone, and played probably my best round ever, at least in terms of consistency. 9 pars, 6 bogeys, and 3 triples (stupid brain farts). Also only took 30 putts, which, for me, is phenomenal. I think the long layoff certainly helped, as I was just happy to be on the course...didn't worry as much about my score. The funny thing is, my ball-striking was pretty awful compared to usual. I just happened to be on from 50 in. Here's hoping it keeps up, but knowing me, i'll be griping about my next 98 before too long
This year has been a little up and down, but I've only been out 5 times so far. My 2 highlights up to now are eagle from 175 yards at the par 4 #12 at Bearbrook, and today at Manderley I hit the best drive of my life over 330 yards dead straight (straight is rare for me) on the par 5 #9 on the South course over the creek.
Hopefully, I can start getting out more, as my swing has been improving since the last 2 months of last season to this year. It might end up being my best year yet.
